5 Thoughts I Had About ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’: Why Is Tiger Shroff The King Of 2.0 Songs?

Tiger Shroff somehow possesses the ability to surprise and underwhelm me at the same time. While he is definitely very talented in a lot of aspects, I feel like a lot of his talents are wasted on the projects he chooses to pick up. But I do remember when Tiger Shroff had just come out with Heropanti and I saw him dancing in ‘Whistle Baja’ and how in awe I was of how his brilliant dancing skills and how cute he looked (I am willing to die on the hill that Tiger Shroff is an attractive man). Where I am going with this is the fact that Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon have come together again for ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’ which has been sung by Mika Singh, and Neeti Mohan and composed by A.R. Rahman. Having heard the song I have a few opinions I need to share with you so here are my 5 thoughts on ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’,

1. Why is Tiger Shroff always a part of the 2.0 version of songs? Before ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’, he has been a part of ‘I Am A Disco Dancer 2.0’ and ‘Dus Bahane 2.0’. Matlab, hai talent toh use karo na!

2. Before I go into my criticisms about ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’, I shall laud Tiger Shroff for 2 things. Firstly, as usual, his dancing missed no beats. It was full of energy and precise movements. While I am not a fan of the choreography, I will say that Tiger did the best he could and shone. Secondly, the song has quite a few minor (and subtle) thirst trap moments ft Tiger Shroff which I am completely here for!

3. Now, coming to Kriti Sanon. I genuinely enjoy her as an actor but  ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’ ain’t it, sis! What is with the costume? Her shimmery clue dress does not go with the overall set design and costumes in the video at all. Compared to the original ‘Whistle Baja’ whose set design and costume coordination I like, this one was a disaster in my books.

4. I shall pay attention to the actual song now. The initial beats I enjoyed and was kinda vibing to. However, I was wondering how they were going to tie this in with the original tune. And when they did, I just couldn’t come to terms with what I was hearing. It is just plain awkward. The original ‘Whistle Baja’ tune does not pair well with the loud and slowed down dhols playing in the background.

5. Also, ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’ does not seem like a 2.0 at all. It is literally a separate song with the original’s chorus’ tune literally pushed in the middle. The song is not a remake but in a league of its own and not a good one, at that.

So, safe to say ‘Whistle Baja 2.0’ isn’t my favourite song. It just upsets me to see Tiger Shroff’s skills being wasted on projects that aren’t worth his time or efforts. I hope that Heropanti 2 is a worthwhile project for him but having seen the trailer, I am not the most hopeful.
