Viola Davis To Receive The Women In Motion Award At Cannes Film Festival 2022
Viola Davis, critically acclaimed actress who has accolades like an Academy Award and an Emmy in her kitty, has been chosen to be honoured with the Women in Motion Award at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The award will be presented to her by the Kering Group and the Cannes Film Festival. The actress currently stars as Michelle Obama in Showtime’s The First Lady. She also released her autobiography Finding Me, which has become New York’s bestseller.

According to TOI, Viola Davis was immensely praised by the award organisers for her dedicated work toward the rights of women and minorities. They further stated her to be one of the most influential American actresses.
In the statement, the award organisers also mentioned Viola Davis’s role as an activist. She was praised for her continuous efforts in calling out the inequality in diversity that still exists in Hollywood.
Also, note that Viola Davis has had a list of accolades to her name. One of the very Hollywood celebrities to have won a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, four SAG Awards, two Tony Awards, an Oscar, and an Emmy. Woah! The addition of the Women in Motion Award will make her the only African American actress to have received so many awards.

The award will be bestowed on her during the official Women in Motion dinner in Cannes on May 22, 2022. The 2021 Women in Motion Award was received by Salma Hayek.
