Tillotama Shome Rallies For Women Cab Drivers At Mumbai Airport, Appeals To CSMIA For Gender Equality. Yes, Please!

You know, I’m confident that women are better than men in every field and it’s not an opinion but a fact. The reason is that we are trained to achieve perfection or you can say pressurised by society to do things without any mistakes or else we have to face criticism and the never-ending taane. But still, there are so many stereotypes and one common stereotype is that women are bad drivers and we are clearly done with it. Recently, Tillotama Shome rallied for women cab drivers and appealed to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) for gender equality. We totally support this!

Tillotama Shome is known for highlighting various issues faced by women. On Thursday, she shared a tweet and talked about the negligence women cab drivers face and urged CSMIA to help them because a driver is a driver and we can’t agree more with her. In the tweet, she wrote, “I am not the only passenger who felt this way. These women are waiting for hours to get a ride. Come on #Mumbai of anyone can set this right, it’s this city!! I had the most wonderful driver and we chatted about this issue.” The Sir actress also shared a picture of a letter that mentioned that authorities should inform and encourage the customers to book cabs with women drivers.

Take a look at the tweet here:

She also added that a driver is a driver regardless of their gender and staff shouldn’t ask if passengers are okay with a lady driver.

After that, the CSMIA replied to the tweet and said that the staff informs the customers that women-driven cabs are available. This is clearly not the answer that we wanted to hear and why can’t a women cab driver work like any other men cab driver. Do they also mention that men-driven cabs are also available as per preference?

It’s high time now that we should support these women who are trying to earn in order to support their families financially and provide them equal opportunities as men.
