Swastika Mukherjee Asks Regional Actors To Also Be Addressed As Indian Actors And Not By Their Home Town Names
Given the entertainment industry is so vast and huge, there never goes a day by when an actor does not stir controversy. Well, this time it is about how the actors should be addressed! It is utmost common here to address actors and actresses with their prefixes from their hometown’s name. For instance, if we are talking about a south-Indian actor we tend to call them Tamil or Telugu or Kannada actors keeping in mind the state they hail from. But this terminology has not sat well with actress Swastika Mukherjee. She has taken to her Twitter handle to express her dislike about it.
Swastika Mukherjee Expresses Dislike
Taking to Twitter, the Dil Bechara actress went on to ask that no one addresses an actress whose mother tongue is Hindi as a ‘Hindi’ actress so why is she being called a Bengali actress. She also went on to say that what problem do people have in calling her an Indian actress?
Her tweet read, “What is ‘bengali actress’ ?! Does anyone write ‘hindi actress’ for those whose mother tongue is hindi ? Does every actor working in Bollywood hail from Mumbai ? Or do we keep mentioning their home town in every damn headline ? Indian actress bolne mein kya dikkat hain bhai ?”

Well, what she has said is definitely food for thought but here’s what we feel. Actors get addressed by their home town names because they are predominantly known for their work in that language. Their names might not click in the minds of the pan-Indian audience who have not seen their native work.
