All The Times ‘Anupamaa’ Proved It’s TV Gods’ Best Gift To The Indian Audience

Anupamaa‘s fan base is growing inch by inch and it’s the show’s gripping script that makes it the viewer’s current favourite. From mouthing great dialogues to battling with the deeply rooted patriarchy, the show’s main lead and other characters navigate the narrative and help display a touch of modernity. So, here are the many points that make the show TV God’s best gift to the viewers.

The beautiful bond between Anupamaa and her father-in-law

Anupamaa’s bapuji (father-in-law) has really put across some not-so daily soap-ish characteristics. Being one of the strongest pillars of support, the central character Anupamaa’s well-knit bond with her father-in-law is like a breath of fresh air amid the line-up of narratives that run across channels. From considering her, his own daughter, supporting her decisions to at times showing her the right path, we love how their relationship adds a new perspective to the episodes.

Banishing Stereotypes

In the world of saas-bahu dramas, Anupamaa gives a fresh new treatment to the age-old television scripts. From touching important subjects like infidelity, divorce and career, Anupamaa deals with a multitude of deeply rooted issues and takes a practical, non-fictionalised approach to tackle them. The show in many ways attempts to chop the fences that restrict a woman’s life post marriage.

Giving It Back To The Society’s Soch

Dealing with a deeply rooted misogyny, Anupamaa makes her way out of the patriarchal setup. Be it her decision of taking divorce from her misogynist husband who cheated on her, giving it back to the society’s soch that questions her friendship with a man post-divorce or helping her so-called sautan through emotional means when her ex-husband threatens to leave her too. Anupamaa breaks paths, one episode at a time.

Feminist Male Lead

While the viewers boil over Anupamaa’s ex-husband Vanraj’s behaviour, many love the show’s other male lead Anuj’s personality traits. Displaying a supportive and equal partnership with Anupamaa, Anuj’s character takes the right stands for one and all. He even remains tight-lipped about his 26-year-old feelings for Anupamaa, allowing her some space to tackle her everyday blooming troubles. Anuj Kapdia’s character is what a dream man is made of.

Anupamaa’s Relationship With Her Bahu

While the saas-bahu war is always projected with truckloads of salt, what is refreshing about the character relationships in this television show is Anupamaa’s bond with her daughter-in-law, Kinjal. Hailing from a filthy rich pariwaar Kinjal has grown up with all the right sanskaars. And even while her husband or Anupamaa’s son Toshu is seen at war with his mother, Kinjal always comes in support of her and helps in mending Anupamaa’s relationship with her son. She further is also spotted taking the right stands in favour of Anupamaa while others decide to keep their distance from her. Great going Kinjal.

Standing Against Violence

Violence against women is tailor-made to add drama in many television scripts, but not with Anupamaa. Touching the important subject like a man’s abusive behaviour at home and work or violence of any kind, Anupamaa takes the lead in looking for the right solutions to put a full stop to the issue. I mean, do you remember the episode where Kinjal opens up about her boss harassing her at work? Unlike the rest of the family members Anupamaa makes a point to report and punish the offender.
