We have often heard Indian celebrities talking about the impact of the underworld on the Bollywood industry in the 90s. In a recent interview, Sonali Bendre has too opened up about this. Sonali Bendre was one of the most loved actresses in the 90s. She has appeared in several movies like- Sarfarosh, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Dil Jale, and so on. Sonali recently made her OTT debut with the show The Broken News. She is also one of the most loved judges of TV reality shows. In a recent interview, Sonali opened up about her struggle of losing roles in the 90s because of the heavy impact of the underworld on Bollywood.

In the interview, Sonali shed some light on the unregulated finances that flowed into the Bollywood projects during the 90s. During the interview for The Ranveer Show, the actor also talked about how she lost many roles just with one phone call. Talking about the same Sonali said that there were times when she was supposed to play a role and it was given to someone else because they were called up. On asking about the reasons for the same the director or co-star would simply say that they have that pressure, and cannot do anything about it. Shedding some light on the unregulated finance, Sonali said that even though there were clean sources putting money into the films, a proper industry status was still lacking during the time. Therefore a lot of unaccounted money flowed into the projects since the banks would not give it. Many other actors have also revealed the underworld links of Bollywood.

The situation has probably become better with time, and hopefully, there is no such impact still left in Bollywood
