Priyanka Chopra Supports Iranian Women In Their Anti-Hijab Protests, Urges People To Stay Informed And Amplify Their Voices!
The women in Iran have taken to the streets to protest against the harsh hijab enforcement laws implemented by the country’s morality police. The death of a 22-year-old girl named Mhasa Amini sparked this whole inferno as the police killed her because she was not wearing her hijab ‘properly’. And now, these protesting Iranian women’s voices have been heard worldwide as people all across the globe are condemning the brutal actions of Iran’s morality police. Priyanka Chopra, who is never far behind in voicing critical social issues, especially those pertaining to women, has also taken other social media to stand by these protesting women.

In a lengthy Instagram post that the Citadel actress has dedicated to these women, she wrote that she stands by them. Priyanka wrote, “Women in Iran and around the world are standing up and raising their voices, publicly cutting their hair and many other forms of protest for Mahsa Amini, whose young life was taken away so brutally by the Iranian Morality Police for wearing her hijab ‘improperly’. The voices that speak after ages of forced silence, will rightfully burst like a volcano! And they will not and MUST not be stemmed.”
Furthermore, she wrote that she is in awe of the courage of these women as it is not easy to risk one’s life to fight against patriarchal institutions. Priyanka continued, “To ensure that this movement will have a lasting effect, we must hear their call, understand the issues and then join in with our collective voices. We must also get everyone who can influence others to join as well. Numbers matter. Add your voice to this critical movement. Stay informed and be vocal, so these voices can no longer be forced to stay silent. I stand with you. Jin, jiyan , azaadi… Women, life, freedom.”

Just last month, another Iranian woman named Hadis Nafaji was shot dead by the Iranian police for participating in the ongoing anti-hijab protest. It is beyond our comprehension what these women must be going through. And to take to the streets, despite knowing that the police will not think twice before shooting them down, is very, very brave of them.
