‘Phule’, Biopic Starring Pratik Gandhi And Patralekhaa, Announced On Mahatma Phule’s 195th Birth Anniversary
April 11 marks the birth of a very important man that dedicated his entire life to eradicating untouchability and ensuring that women, as well as the oppressed class, have the right to education. I’m talking about none other than Jyotirao Govindrao Phule or popularly known as Mahatma Phule. And today, on his birth anniversary, Bollywood has given him a present like no other. What is it, you ask? Well, it has decided to honour his contributions by making a biopic on him. Yep, on his birthday a biopic was announced which will star Patralekhaa and Pratik Gandhi as leads.
On his 195th birthday, a biopic named Phule was announced that will star Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Phule and Patralekhaa as his wife and social activist Savitribai. The feature film will be written and directed by the National Award-winning director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan.

Sharing the first look of Phule on his Instagram, Pratik Gandhi wrote, “Honoured to take Mahatma Phule’s legacy to the world as an actor along with @patralekhaa in #Phule On the occasion of 195th birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule, unveiling the first look of ‘Phule’, the Hindi biopic, directed by @ananthmahadevanofficial produced by Content Engineers & Dancing Shiva Productions.”
In fact, the first look of the biopic has already started creating quite the buzz around the fact that both – Patralekhaa and Pratik Gandhi – in the poster bear a striking resemblance to Savitribai and Mahatma Phule.

Phule, the Hindi feature biopic, will revolve around the story of Mahatma Phule whose ideologies and thinking were way ahead of his time. The activist-reformer fought against the caste system and founded the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers) which was dedicated to fighting for equal rights for the lower classes. The movie starring Patralekhaa and Pratik Gandhi will also focus on the social activist couple that became the pioneers of women’s education in India.
The movie is all set to hit cinemas globally in the year 2023.
