Kylie Minogue Says ‘Something Had to Be Done’ About Kylie Jenner’s Suit To Trademark Her First Name
Showbiz is a complicated world and the competition here is beyond imagination. The slightest of things is enough to cause to stir between two artists which not only is limited to them but also leaves their fans divided. And god forbid if there are any legal battles or issues! Things turn pretty nasty in that department. But a legal battle between Australian singer Kylie Minogue and makeup mogul Kylie Jenner was saved from taking a turn for the worse as both of them handled the matter pretty well! Recently, Minogue has opened up about the matter and shared her thoughts on it.
Kylie Minogue And Kylie Jenner’s Legal Battle
As per reports, Minogue referred to the legal hassle with Jenner as ‘just business’. She appeared on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live show and here’s when she went on to shed light on why she deemed her countersuit to Jenner’s trademark suit necessary. She said that when she was named Kylie, she had only met one other person with the same name who was older than her. Minogue also went on to add that she had spent her lifetime building and protecting her brand and ‘something had to be done’ about it.

Here’s a gist of what went down between the two. Kylie Jenner had applied to trademark her first name in 2014 for advertising purposes but this did not sit well with Kylie Minogue. She went ahead to file an opposing suit to block Jenner from trademarking her name because if she went ahead and did that, it would cause great ‘confusion’ with Minogue’s brand which is also known by the name ‘Kylie’. After a whole lot of legal process, in 2017, Minogue was successful in her application and Jenner’s suit was rejected.
