Kitu Gidwani Calls Out Entertainment Industry Over Poor Portrayal Of Women Characters And Discarding Actresses Over 40

There is prevalent ageism in the industry and it is difficult to not agree with this fact. Older artists, especially actresses, are given the backseat while the younger lot is prioritised for prominent roles in films. They are more often given the roles of mothers to play in films. The typecasting of older actresses like this is not fair and even wrong on so many levels. Recently actress Kitu Gidwani has harshly criticised the industry for ‘discarding’ women actors over the age of 40. She has also expressed her dissatisfaction over the portrayal of real women on the screen

Kitu Gidwani Is Not Happy With The Portrayal Of Women

While to talking to Hindustan Times, Kitu Gidwani said that the industry is ‘light years’ behind in terms of the portrayal of women on the screen. She was disappointed to the extent that she went on to say that there are cowards in this country who do not want to show when a woman gets successful or is single or does not have children.
