5 Thoughts That Came To Me While Watching ‘Kaun Banegi Shikharwati’ Trailer: I Have High Hopes From The Comedy Quota
I am not one to enjoy family dramas a lot. Even if there are elements of comedy within it, I always feel as though the familial equations always catch up to the characters and they all end up being caricatures of similar characters we have already seen. However, there are very few that capture my attention. I saw the trailer of Kaun Banegi Shikharwati, a web series all set to premiere on ZEE5 on January 7, 2022. The series is directed by Gauravv Chawla and Ananya Banerjee and is produced by ZEE5 and Applause Entertainment. Kaun Banegi Shikharwati has a very dynamic cast of actors such as Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra, Anya Singh, Raghubir Yadav, Cyrus Sahukar, Varun Thakur and Anurag Sinha. The trailer was anything but ordinary and it has captured my very selective attention span. So you know what time it is, let’s talk about the 5 thoughts I had while watching the trailer of Kaun Banegi Shikharwati:
1. First, Naseeruddin Shah. That’s my thought. Okay, let me explain. I have loved this man and him as an actor since I watched him for the first time in the movie Iqbal. And no joke, but I was discussing him with my mother yesterday. I absolutely love the way he assumes the role of each character as his own and kinda blends in with them. He can somehow range from comedy to serious and emotional in an instant. Okay, so as you can see, I am obsessed. And watching the Kaun Banegi Shikharwati trailer begin with Naseeruddin has piqued my interest in the series.
2. I love the traditional gender norms being broken. Usually, stories revolving around royalty always show male heirs and the men being in power. However, the story has four sisters or rather princesses and they are shown to be taking responsibility for their childhood home (the palace they grew up in). I love that Kaun Banegi Shikharwati didn’t feel the need to add in a brother (prince) just for the sake of the plot.

3. Soha Ali Khan is seen acting after a very long break and I love this for her. I have always deemed her to be pretty underrated. So I was very excited to see Soha in the trailer of Kaun Banegi Shikharwati as one of the lead characters. Plus, there is Lara Dutta, Kritika Kamra and Anya Singh, and I am eager to watch this talented bunch indulge in some sibling rivalry!
4. Okay, the plot. The plot itself is what made me watch the trailer 3-4 times before I started writing my thoughts down. The story features a royal family whose king is trying to avoid an IT raid by trying to unite his estranged daughters. Usually, when a story revolves around a royal family, the characters are portrayed as regal, prim and proper to an annoyingly unrealistic standard. However, Kaun Banegi Shikharwati changes that. The characters, including the king and princesses, have their own quirks which keep clashing with each other causing comedic conflict between them. They have maintained the drama along with comedy very well in the Kaun Banegi Shikharwati trailer.
5. Kaun Banegi Shikharwati features Raghubir Yadav, Cyrus Sahukar and Varun Thakur. All 3 of these actors have brilliant comic timing and are known for their comedy roles in many movies and shows. While they usually aren’t the lead characters, they always leave a mark on their audience with their skills. So I am looking forward to all the actors’ dynamic together and expecting the laughter quota to be pretty high.
As you can see, I have a lot to say about the Kaun Banegi Shikharwati trailer. The cast and the plot of the series have my attention. I cannot wait to see if Kaun Banegi Shikharwati will live up to the hype it has created in my mind. Kaun Banegi Shikharwati will be exclusively released on ZEE5 on January 7, 2022.
