Kanika Kapoor Says She Feared Her Husband’s Family Wouldn’t Accept Her Because Of Her Divorce And Three Children

And one such popular face is singer Kanika Kapoor who has always been pretty vocal about her personal journey. The 43-year-old singer recently tied the knot again, with London based businessman Gautam Hathiramani. Kanika’s beautiful pastel wedding ceremony on May 20 did multiple rounds on the internet.

And now finally opening up about her decision of marrying again, Kanika expressed being entangled in her own doubts about remarriage in a recent interview with ETimes. Kapoor, who is a mother to three kids–Yuvraj (19), Aayana (17) and Samara (15) filed for separation from her husband in 2012. Opening about her relationship with now-husband Gautam, Kanika said that he accepts her for who she is, “a mother, an artiste, a daughter and a friend.”
Being friends for almost 15 years, Kanika shared that Gautam proposed to her, almost a year back. As much as it was exciting to head toward a new journey, Kanika was surprised and unsure about the wedding. The thought of acceptance from Gautam’s family would always worry her. She further said, “It was because of my own doubts. Fact that I am divorced with three children, I wasn’t sure whether I would be accepted by him and his family. But I was wrong. Today, I want to tell women that no matter what the circumstances, in the end, happiness awaits you.”

Walking towards a new phase in her life, Kanika also lauded her kids for being every bit supportive throughout the ceremonies and while making the decision of remarriage. She said, “I remember a few days before the wedding, my youngest daughter said to me, ‘Now we are going to give you away.’ Kanika said she was surprised and told her that “not just me, we all are marrying him because you all are a part of me. The “Baby Doll” singer also revealed her kids have been very gracious about her decision of re-marriage.
