Hina Khan Not Invited To The Inauguration Ceremony Of Indian Pavilion, Says “An Elitist System Still Exists”
This year, India was named the ‘Country of Honour’ at the Cannes Film Market. On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, the Indian Pavilion was officially opened. Deepika Padukone, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Pooja Hegde were among the celebrities who attended the event. I&B Minister Anurag Thakur and folk singer Mame Khan, were also in attendance. On the one hand, every Indian celebrity from all walks of life was present, but Hina Khan was the only one who was not. In a recent interview, she expressed her dissatisfaction with this.

Hina Khan has been making us proud at the global level. The actor made her debut at Cannes in 2019 for the poster launch of her Hussein Khan film – Lines. This year the actor is yet again breaking the internet with her gorgeous Cannes look. Hina is attending the festival this year for the poster launch of her Indo-English film, Country of Blind. In a recent interview with Film Companion, Hina expressed her disappointment on not being called to the opening ceremony of the Indian Pavilion. She said that it was disheartening.
She also assertively added that there is an elitist system that still exists. Hina Khan also shared that she saw the viral video of the actresses doing the Ghoomar on Mame Khan’s song and suggested that she could not have been in the audience there, cheering them up. However, in the interview with Film Companion, the actor further said that she does not blame the celebrities and is proud of them, but feels “it’s the people on the field who act”. She ended the answer with the hope that she might be present there next year.
Professionally, Hina Khan has been doing great. She recently announced her upcoming web series- Seven One in which she will be playing the role of a cop. Her fans are excited for this one!
