Hina Khan Talks About Her Second Appearance At Cannes Film Festival 2022, Says “It Felt Like A Mela”
The Cannes Film Festival 2022 was eventful for us desis this time around with several Indian celebs gracing the event with their presence. Apart from B-town celebs, this year several celebs from the South Indian film industry and television industry made their debut on the Cannes red carpet. Actors Pooja Hegde, Helly Shah, Urvashi Rautela, Aditi Rao Hydari and others walked the Cannes red carpet for the first time this year. Hina Khan, who made her debut on the Cannes red carpet in 2019, walked the red carpet again this year and she totally rocked it. In a recent interview, the actress spoke about attending the film festival yet again this year.

Speaking about her second appearance at Cannes Film Festival, Hina Khan was quoted by Hindustan Times saying that this time around, the film festival was tiring but “worth it”. She went on to add that it was fun and energetic and that she had to put much more effort and preparation into the event than the last time. Pointing out that the Cannes finally happened in a physical manner after 2 years and people from across the world attended it. “It felt like a mela. My 2019 visit was magical but this year too it was wonderful,” said the actress.

Talking about her red carpet looks, the actress shared that she was nervous this time as her previous looks were loved by all and considering all the other celebs who were attending the Cannes Film Festival, the pressure to look good just increased. Hina Khan went on to share that she wanted to look different than the last time and went with a dramatic look.

“I also knew that it is about your own charm and wahan jaake aag lagni hai was my thought. I walked once and I was too tired with just one. Thankfully, it was well-received. Those five minutes on the carpet are magical,” Hina Khan told HT. She further added that the international media at the film festival does not judge one on the basis of where one is from or what they’ve done and that they only click celebs if they find them “worthy enough to be caught on their cameras”.

Recently, Hina Khan had spoken up about not being invited to the India Pavillion at Cannes 2022. When asked about it, the actress shared that she received a lot of love and support from media, celebs and netizens. She added that people took a stand for her but that was not what she wanted and that her statement was not planned, it was just asked and she chose to speak up.

“As an actor, I have been vocal about things and I always will be. I wasn’t there for a TV show but a film poster launch, so I didn’t understand why this happened,” said the actress. Speaking further to Hindustan Times, Hina shared that she hopes things will be better next year and that while change may be slow, she does see it happening. She added that she was invited to the India Pavilion following her interview.
