Marvel’s ‘Moon Knight’ Actor Gaspard Ulliel Passes Away At 37 After Ski Accident, Celebrities Mourn The Loss Of An ‘Incredible Actor’
Last night, the film fraternity woke up to the shocking news of French actor Gaspard Ulliel’s untimely demise, at the age of 37. According to his family, the actor died in a skiing accident in southeast France on Tuesday. He was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble where he died on Wednesday, the agent said. Known for playing the role of a young Hannibal Lecter, the actor’s upcoming new Marvel TV series Moon Knight was one of his most anticipated performances as the Midnight Man. Being one of French cinema’s top A-listers Ulliel won a Cesar, the French equivalent of an Oscar, for best actor in 2017 for It’s Only the End of the World. Apart from holding a successful acting career, he was also known for featuring in Chanel perfume ads and portraying fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in a 2014 biopic. Soon after the news of his demise hit the internet, tributes started pouring in for Gaspard Ulliel from friends, fellow actors and fans alike.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex paid a heartfelt tribute to the late actor and tweeted, “Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew with him. They loved each other madly. It is with a heavy heart that we will no longer see his most beautiful interpretations. We have lost a French actor.”
Filmmaker Peter Webber, who directed Ulliel in Hannibal Rising, shared, “Shocked and saddened to hear about the death of Gaspard Ulliel at such a young age in a skiing accident. I have such fond memories of working with him all those years ago on Hannibal Rising. Rest in peace, dear friend.”
Filmmaker Martin Scorsese also shared, “I was so impressed by his dedication and his intelligence. He loved the cinema, and I know that he would have been an interesting filmmaker if he’d lived to realise his dream.”

He knew how to select his roles and shaped his career which filled every promise.” French actor and Emily In Paris fame Lucas Bravo, actor Jean Dujardin, Pierre Niney also shared their condolences on social media. Apart from his colleagues, Gaspard Ulliel’s fans expressed their shock.

The news of his death came just a day after the trailer launch for Moon Knight, from Marvel Cinematic Universe, which stars him as Midnight Man. Rest in peace, star.
