‘Full House’ Star Bob Saget Passes Away At 65. Priyanka Chopra, Hollywood Mourns ‘America’s Dad’

I believe there are certain characters and stories that stay with you long after they’re over. Being a student of literature, I have several characters and stories from books, television, and film that have stayed with me over the years. One of them was Danny Tanner, done justice to by the brilliant and hilarious, Bob Saget. While I didn’t grow up watching Full House, I cracked a few years ago and binged through the whole series which taught me a lot about parenthood and growing up in the most light-hearted but hard-hitting moments ever. I have always been grateful for Bob Saget and his portrayal of Danny Tanner that taught me to look at my parents more kindly rather than simply parent who can do no wrong. And as I watched him as his older self, I fell more in love with his adorably goofy personality. So with a heavy heart, I have to inform you of the news that ‘America’s Dad’ Bob Saget has passed away at the age of 65. And Hollywood, which includes our very own Priyanka Chopra, is mourning him.

The actor was found dead in a hotel room in Florida on Sunday, while on tour in Jacksonville. A tweet earlier from the Orange County Sheriff’s department indicated no signs of foul play or drugs.

Bob Saget was an actor and comedian known in the industry for his kind and humorous nature.  His last Tweet read, “Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville. Appreciative audience. Thanks again to @RealTimWilkins for opening. I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this shit.” As cliche as it is, I personally find solace in knowing he passed away while doing something he loved.

Priyanka Chopra posted about Saget’s sudden demise on her Instagram story.

Alongside Priyanka Chopra, Saget’s Full House and Raising Dad co-stars, put up tributes and talked about how amazing he was as a costar and as a friend.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who played Michelle Tanneron Full House, issued a statement: “Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has. We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences.”

In December, when another legend, Betty White passed away, Bob Saget posted something that now feels incredibly bittersweet.

After Betty White, this one made me tear up. While most were busy crushing on Uncle Jesse, I was always enamoured by Danny Tanner and his awkward, goofy and humorous self.  Bob Saget taught the world what it means to be a Dad, becoming everyone’s Dad through Danny Tanner with iconic lines like, “just remember when children seem the least lovable, it means they need love the most.” And as he grew older we all came to see him as a loveable grandpa who was a “lean, mean hugging machine.” I am certain he is just as much of delight to have up there as he was down here, Rest In Peace, Bob Saget.
