Did Ekta Kapoor Postpone The Release Of Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Lock Upp’ After Mumbai, Hyderabad Courts Issue Stay Order?
Reality show fans in the house, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. I will lead with the bad news first. In the latest promo of Ekta Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming show Lock Upp, the release date has been removed. Yepp, looks like the show won’t be releasing on 27 February as planned! But the good news is that the name of the next contestant is out and it’s none other than Karanvir Bohra.

Ekta Kapoor’s decision to postpone the release of Lock Upp comes in the backdrop of not one but two stay orders that have been issued by Mumbai and Hyderabad courts. On 25 February, a stay order was issued by the Bombay Civil Court on the release of the show over plagiarism charges. And now the word is that on 23 February a Hyderabad Civil Court issued a stay order on the release of the show as per a report by the Hindustan Times.

As per the news report, the City Civil Court, Hyderabad issued an ad-interim injunction against releasing, exhibiting and publishing the series under the name of Lock Upp or any other name on OTT platform, theatres, YouTube or any other electronic media or social media. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for 9 March. In the earlier case, a man had accused the makers of Lock Upp of stealing his concept of the show titled ‘Jail’.

Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp was earlier scheduled to release on 27 February on OTT platforms ALT Balaji and MX Player. The show follows a narrative similar to that of Bigg Boss. As of now, the finalised contestants of the show are Nisha Rawal, Munawar Faruqui, Poonam Pandey, Babita Phogat and Karanvir Bohra.
