DC Head Counters Amber’s Allegations, Says She Was Almost Dropped From ‘Aquaman 2’ Over Chemistry Issues With Momoa
Amber Heard will be seen with Jason Momoa, in the upcoming movie Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, expected to release in March 2023. In her infamous Washington Post op-ed that is the subject of the defamation case between her and Johnny Depp, Heard had stated that she fought her way for the role in Aquaman 2. She also stated that every time she got a new script, her role was trimmed and many of her action sequences were also removed. However, a statement released by the Head of DC films at Warner Bros, Walter Hamada, contradicts Amber Heard’s story.
Johnny Depp’s legal team had Walter Hamada testify over the allegations put forth by Amber Heard. Hamada, clearing the air, stated that Amber Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 was not determined by her issues with Johnny Depp. He further said that the reason was her lack of chemistry with Jason Momoa, as per reports.

Previously, Jessica Kovacevic, the actress’ talent agent, asserted that after her appearance in the 2018 film Aquaman, her career did not take off as planned. She too alleged that Amber’s role in the second movie was also compromised because of the negative publicity and fan backlash after Depp’s team claimed Amber’s domestic violence charges to be a hoax.
According to Walter Hamada’s statements, the main concern with Amber Heard was the absence of chemistry with Momoa. He added that the studio also felt that there was no natural connection between Amber and Momoa. It was also said that the studio had once considered keeping another female lead for the second movie, however, no auditions were done for the same. Going by the statement of an industry analyst Kathryn Arnold, who testified as an expert witness, both the director and actor Momoa were quite adamant to keep Amber for the sequel.
