Comedian Dave Chapelle Attacked On Stage. Chris Rock Quipped, “Was That Will Smith?”
After the infamous Oscar slap by Will Smith, I think attacking comedians on stage is turning into some kinda trend. If you’re confused as to why I’m saying this then that is because comedian Dave Chapelle was recently attacked on stage while performing for Netflix is a joke in Los Angeles. A clip had gone viral from the show where an attacker armed with a gun and knife tackled Chapelle to the ground.

A video has gone viral of comedian Dave Chappelle during a performance. The attacker was detained by the security and fellow comedian Jamie Foxx on stage. The LA police department stated that they responded to the call at the Bowl at around 10:45 P.M, according to Republic. The attacker tackled Chapelle after he joked about beefing up his security due to his controversial comment on trans people last year.

Fellow comedian Jamie Foxx was also present at the venue and rushed to the stage to help Chapelle and detain the attacker. Chris Rock who was also subjected to an attack on stage commented “Was that Will Smith?” Chapelle thanked Jamie Foxx for his support after the attacker was taken into custody.

Both the comics shared a few quick jokes in an attempt to lighten up the mood and lift the tension. Foxx then addressed the situation saying, “This man is an absolute genius. We’ve got to make sure we protect him at all times. For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You’re a genius. You’re a legend, and we’re not going to let nothing happen to you.”

Footage that has gone viral showed the attacker with both his hands broken and dislocated being taken to a medical facility.
