Transgender Doctor Shares An Eye-Opening Note On How Society Teaches People To Fear Them, Urges People To Be Kind To Queer Folks

The world has been and still can be very cruel to the queer community. We can never imagine the kind of hate they still receive from some people who function on a set of regressive ideologies. No amount of change and awareness can make them kind and sensible. Recently, on Transgender Day Of Remembrance, which falls on November 20 every year, I came across an eye-opening social media post by Dr. Trinetra who belongs to the queer community. In the post, she has openly expressed the kind of hate she still receives yet has hope that one day, the world will become a kinder place for them.

For those of you who are not aware, Transgender Day Of Remembrance is dedicated to all those people from the queer community who have lost their lives fighting against anti-transgender violence. The post that I came across was shared by Dr. Trinetra, and she expressed the current treatment of people toward the queer community from her personal experience. Trinetra started the note with a beautiful line that as a pediatrician by profession she has learned that one is born with the feeling of hate. In her career, as a part of being in the pediatric department, she has played with and treated many kids, and never has a child told her that she possesses a manly voice. As opposed to some faceless people on the internet who shame and humiliate her for her voice. To give us a context, Trinetra also shared a picture along with the note, in which she can be seen holding a child and on top, there are many screenshots of the hate comments, that she receives on a daily basis.

However, one fear that constantly haunts her is that maybe someday even these innocent children will be conditioned to hate the queer community. Dr. Trinetra also wrote about the little anxieties that she faces every day at her job. What if any child does question her voice someday or goes away from her because of her physical appearance? Dr. Trinetra opened up about the insecurities that she still has to face every day on her job and no amount of slogans can change that reality.

She ended her note with the hope that nobody from the queer community has to die fighting hate and insecurities, and Transgender Day of Remembrance should be a reminder about that. Dr. Trinetra hopes to have a world where people co-exist and let queer people feel safe in their jobs, and thrive as an individual.

The post is an emotional ordeal that needed to come out. Is it really difficult to create such a world? Is it so difficult to celebrate and appreciate individuality?
