5 Easy And Low Maintenance Home Decor Ideas That Will Make Your Home Diwali Ready!

As a child, I have always looked forward to celebrating Diwali! Seeing my mom make the Diwali faral and many of our traditional Gujarati delicacies three-four days before Diwali, decorating the house with my dad, the thorough saaf-safaai, shopping for new clothes and making rangolis all added to the festive vigour! Nothing from the above-mentioned things has changed over the years at my house. But keeps changing, is the Diwali decor. My mom makes sure that she does not buy anything that she had already brought last year. And going shopping with her so many times, I, too, have developed a taste for amazing Diwali home decor. So, if you are looking for decoration inspiration this year, here are some of the ideas you can easily recreate and make your home ready for the festival of lights!

Lights

Well, lights find a mention in the name of this festival itself, so how can you not add lights to your home decor? From dainty fairy lights to the different bulb-shaped lights, you can use them all to light up your house! And if you are bored of simply taping the lights to the walls of your house, then you can coil the lights and place them into a glass jar or any coloured glass bottle. Place each jar or bottle at your window, near your rangoli, or even on your living room shelves! But make sure you have an extension cord and an electrical socket nearby.

Electric candle

Candles also make for great home decor items during Diwali. But with guests at home and even possibly kids running around, candles are not much of a safe option these days. But electric candles are available in the market these days that run on cells. The best part of these candles is that even their flame looks quite real and sways like a light breeze is blowing them!

Diwali torans

The door frames of our houses can be decorated with fancy torans as well! There are so many of thee available in the market these days! From pearl hangings to parrot, elephant and Ganpati motifs, these torans are one of the best Diwali decor items!

Plastic rangoli

If you like me a fan of the different coloured powder rangolis but the annoying neighbouring kids on your floor end up walking all over it (there is nothing you can do about it, can you?), you can use plastic rangoli. You just have to peel off the double-sided tape from behind it and stick it on the floor! These rangolis come in so many shapes and colours that you can change them as and when you please and the neighbour’s kids cannot even wipe them!

Floral plates

If are looking for a nice decorative item to keep around the house all through Diwali and also want it to be low maintenance? Well, then take a steel plate, a big one, and fill it with water. You can add glitter to the water to make it shiny. And then you place artificial or real flowers in the water. In the evening, you can also keep a candle in the plate which will easily float as well!

These 5 things are super easy and low-maintenance to use around the house! Plus, you can always put your own creativity to use and add your own touch to these things as well. With Diwali just a week away, start shopping for all the items you need and start decorating your humble abode for the festival of lights!
