Remember when Neha Kakkar’s pregnancy gimmick went viral? She created such a stir on social media to promote her upcoming song. Honestly, I thought that this was the end of it. But guess I was wrong. Another set of celebrities – Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Vishal Singh – were inspired by the singer and put up a post that looked as though the couple was engaged. As you would have already guessed, it was a prank and a promotional move for their upcoming music video.

After making headlines for their engagement post, the Saath Nibhaana Saathiya actors – Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Vishal Singh – came clean during a live session when they revealed that they were “engaged” for their new music video, ‘It’s Official’.

Honestly, I’m rather sick of celebs using gimmicks to promote their projects. I get that you want to do something out-of-the-box or want to stir social media with your promotional move but fooling your fans into believing something that isn’t true is (according to me) lying. Moreover, it is just unfair and derogatory to fans who trust these celebs. I guess it’s about time they came up with newer and better ways to promote their upcoming projects, don’t you think?
