This Is How Ananya Panday, Deepika Padukone And Siddhant Chaturvedi Reacted To The Script Of ‘Gehraiyaan’. It’s Epic!
Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic induced lockdown, we now have an abundance of content available for viewing at the click of a button. Honestly, I spend most of my money paying for the memberships of different OTT platforms and I really don’t mind. After all, who doesn’t love watching quality content? But the quality seems to be missing from the content these days. With all the variety available on these OTT platforms finding good content is not easy, which is why I am always hunting for good movies and series to watch and that’s also why I religiously follow all the upcoming OTT releases that I can watch. And currently, Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan is the one film which I have been desperately waiting to watch. Just today, the trailer of the film starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa was released in a virtual event followed by a press conference. The film is produced by Karan Johar led Dharma Productions. Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor play supporting roles in this upcoming film that is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video on February 11, 2022.
In the recent, press meet the leading star cast of the film opened up about their reactions to the script of Gehraiyaan and their experience shooting the film. But honestly, it was Ananya Panday and Deepika Padukone’s reactions that blew us away. Recalling the moment when Shakun Batra narrated the film to her, Ananya Panday revealed that she just asked them if she could use the washroom and then did not come out for about 20 minutes. “I think they got scared that I fainted in the bathroom or something. The fact was that I could not believe that this project was even going to come to me. I was just happy to be part of the film,” said Ananya. She further added that working with Shakun Batra was on her bucket list for the longest time. She also shared that working for the film has changed her not just as an actor but also as a person. Well, we can really see the change in her acting skills in the trailer of the film.

On the other hand, Deepika Padukone’s reaction to the narration of the film left Karan Johar and Shakun Batra confused. Speaking about it Karan revealed that director Shakun Batra flew to London to narrate the script of Gehraiyaan to Deepika Padukone but the actress went MIA on them for 2 days after hearing it. He further added that after not receiving a response from Deepika, Shakun felt really worried. So, the filmmaker dialled Deepika to get an update only to find out that she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the script. “Shakun was a little worried. Then I called Deepika to get an update and she said ‘I was so overwhelmed by the script that it took me some time to process'” Well, okay then.

Speaking about his reaction to the script narration, Siddant Chaturvedi said that he immediately said ‘yes’ to the film but felt really confused about portraying his character as there was no reference point since no other film has been made about the other side of infidelity and romance.

During the press meet, Deepika Padukone also opened up about how she had to dive into the Gehraiyaan of some of ‘the most unpleasant experiences’ from her real life in order to portray her character in reel life. She further added that while she has played characters like Veronica in Cocktail and Meera in Love Aaj Kal who deal with complex relationships, her character in Gehraiyaan is much more raw and complex. “I’d say this character is a lot more raw and a lot more real than some of the other characters that I’ve played, just completely stripped, completely vulnerable. I had to dig deep and visit places that aren’t the most pleasant experiences in my own life, especially having dealt with mental health issues myself, ” said Deepika.

What Is ‘Gehraiyaan’ About?
The most-awaited romantic drama film follows the story of two couples and the complexity of their interpersonal relationships and an illicit affair that leads to chaos. Gehraiyaan follows the story of the troubled married life of Alisha (Deepika Padukone) and Karan (Dhariya Karwa) and the love life of Alisha’s cousin Tia (Ananya Panday) and her fiance Zain (Siddhant Chaturvedi). But what happens when Alisha and Zain fall for each other and get involved in an illicit affair? Well, that’s for you to find out.

Honestly, Siddhant and Deepika’s chemistry in Gehraiyaan has us concerned for Ranveer Singh. But jokes apart, the duo looks amazing in the trailer and we cannot wait to watch them on the silver screen. Gehraiyaan is set to release worldwide on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on 11th February.
