Journalist Discusses Ranbir Asking Alia To Wipe Off Lipstick, Shares How People Weaponise Love To Control
She's spitting facts!

Alia Bhatt recently revealed her makeup routine in an interview with a popular magazine, but in doing so, she also ended up revealing her husband Ranbir Kapoor’s yet another toxic trait. Alia was talking about how she unconventionally applies her lipstick, and then she rubs off the excess because Ranbir Kapoor does not like it when she wears dark colours as he likes the “natural colour of her lips”. If it was not already established that Ranbir is a walking red flag, this surely did. Regarding this, a journalist took to Twitter to talk about one’s controlling behaviour and how there’s a difference between letting your partner know your opinion and enforcing it on them.

Journalist Rituparna Chatterjee took to Twitter to talk about the difference between having an opinion on your partner’s appearance and forcing them to change as per your opinion. She said that it is okay to your partner that you don’t like their hair, makeup or beard as long as you are not forcing them to change said aspects of their appearance. Rituparna further added that it is okay to love your partner and not like their choices. But, she also wrote that it is not okay for someone to use love as a tool to make your partner change.
It's ok to tell a partner "I don't like this look/makeup/beard/hair on you" as long as you're not forcing them to change. It's ok to love a partner and not like something in them. Not ok to use love as bargaining tool to stop them doing something they enjoy. Difference is simple.

Furthermore, Rituparna also added that one must not give up control over their choices in the name of love without asking and understanding why you are doing so. This stands specifically true for women because we are told from childhood what to wear, what to eat, how to laugh, how to sit, and so much more.
When we discuss body autonomy I think most people simplify it down to sacrificing something they value in the name of love without scrutinising why one must give up control over their body to someone else – especially women who are told what to do/wear/say since birth.

This makes me so uneasy. This control over a woman's body autonomy normally spills into other areas of her life as well. Men can't and should not decide whether a woman should or shouldn't wear makeup. Alia doesn't lack agency or voice so I hope she stood up for herself. https://t.co/1W1tl5mZx1

Rituparna also hoped that Alia Bhatt stood up for herself as she does not lack agency.

This is not the first time that Alia Bhatt has talked about Ranbir’s controlling behaviour. Previously, she said that he asks her to keep her voice under certain decibels because he does not like it when she raises her voice.
