5 Comfy Workwear Ideas That You Can Steal From Your Favourite Bollywood Girls

5 Comfy Workwear Ideas That You Can Steal From Your Favourite Bollywood Girls

Most of this year’s fashion trends became irrelevant and you know why. I was counting on sporting the latest trends and taking them to streets, but life (or that damn bat) had other plans for me. But it’s cool because a whole fresh crop of fashion trends made it to the runways through quarantine, and one of them is comfy workwear. We can’t say we didn’t see it coming, though. As WFH and zoom meetings became the new normal, we inadvertently slipped into our comfort zones style-wise and otherwise. And, there was a new fashion niche featuring cozy loungewear-like formal outfits that kept you professionally stylish and comfortable at the same time.

Now that we’ve successfully spent more than half a year being locked up in our homes, attending online meetings in our PJs and sweats, I don’t think we can go back to crisp trousers, form-fitting dresses and tailored pantsuits. Not anytime soon, at least. I’ve literally forgotten how to function in a pair of jeans, let alone those office pants. Just thinking about it is making me squirm in discomfort. But the reality is we do have to resume work at real workspace and it might be rude but you can’t show up in your jammies. Na-uh!

The smart thing to do here would be to merge your comfort and style much like what Bollywood celebrities are doing these days. They have stocked up on comfy workwear outfits, because most of them have already begun shooting and we are getting office wear inspo every day. These are the most relaxed formal styles that you can steal for your WFH and when you finally go to your work and meet your office squad. Take a look at these comfy celeb styles you can copy for your workwear diaries.

Pantsuits, 2020 edition

Pantsuits or power suits are the ultimate office wear for any girl boss but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t shove it in the back of your closet as soon as your office closed. Don’t be guilty because it was the reasonable thing to do and also, you are not alone. However, if you feel you’d be missing your sweats terribly post lockdown, here is an amazing alternative. The powersuit got the 2020 update and now comes with joggers. Yes, with drawstrings and all. They are loose-fitted and so comfy, you’d want to wear them every day. Nora Fatehi can vouch for that.

Wrap dresses

What debuted as boho clothing item and remained a vacation-favourite for the longest time has now become an acceptable choice as workwear. Comfy workwear, that is. We are talking about wrap dresses. It’s pretty much like your house dresses you rocked all quarantine, but better. The best thing about wrap dresses is they can be as fitted as you need them to be as they come with a tie-around string. Go for solid colour dresses instead of printed (unless your workplace is chill, then go crazy with the prints) and opt for styles that are cool and casual but also apt for those board meetings.

Pleated skirt

Pencil skirts are so yesterday. Plus, if you have given up on pencil skirts, for comfort reasons, we totally get you. Thankfully, flared, pleated skirts are on fashion duty this year and we couldn’t have asked for a breezier office wear item at this point. Here’s a look you can copy. Pair your pleated skirt with a white shirt tucked in. If it is cold where you are, you could throw on a jacket over it too. Another way to do winter wear with skirts in 2020 is pull off an oversized sweater and tuck it in the skirt from the front. Team it with a belt if you feel like, no pressure. Sonakshi does it fabulously here.

Cotton co-ords

You might not be allowed to wear your sweatsuits in the office but here is a look that will possibly provide you the same comfort as your pyjama set. A co-ord set of jacket shrug, wide-legged pants and top in the most breathable and coziest fabric there is, cotton. You can find umpteen variants of such three-piece cotton co-ord sets to get the perfectly cool look (literally and figuratively) for the long days at office.

Chic chikankari kurta

Nothing has quite changed during the quarantine when it comes to our favourite Indian attire—a pretty kurta for workwear. We loved a roomy kurta then and we love them now. However, we have been spotting a lot of one similar style in most celebrity pictures. Seems like they have recently developed a likeness for a sheer chikankari kurta paired with classic white palazzo pants and we aren’t complaining. This is a gorgeous, not to mention comfy workwear option that you can hop onboard too, ASAP.
