Here’s Why Sandbagging Is the New Baking
It’s true that there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t tell other women that their lipstick is bleeding.
We all know how painful it is to keep your makeup intact. More so if you live in tropical regions. It is heartbreaking to see hours and hours of hard work go down the drain when your make-up smears and smudges and turns into a messy affair. Baking was the answer when going sans makeup was not an option. However, how many of us really have THAT much time on our hands? Besides, it has a tendency to make you look overly made up. So what’s a girl supposed to do? Just when we were ready to throw our hands up in despair and call it a day, celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic threw the perfect trick our way.
Sandbagging is THE technique Dedivanovic uses on his most famous client Kim Kardashian to keep her creamy or liquid lipsticks in check. The relatively easy technique can also be used to keep your eyeshadow from creasing, or your liquid eyeliner and mascara from smearing in your lower lashline.
The technique is pretty similar to baking. Using a sponge or a BeautyBlender, apply loose powder under your eyes going as close to the lashline as possible, and under your lips and around the corners where lipstick tends to bleed generally. Let the oil in your skin absorb the powder thoroughly. This technique works exactly like sandbags do to prevent water from escaping from dams. The powder forms a barrier around the area and prevents leakage. Finish your makeup, then brush off the excess powder for a smooth, smudge-proof look.
