#WOTW: A Chignon Is Such An Effortless Bun For Summer

If you’re a long-haired girl, it’s impossible to flaunt your lustrous man in summer thanks to the blazing hot days. What better opportunity then to try the classic chignon? A chignon is hairstyle dating back a few hundred years and is a way of styling your hair in a low, neat bun. The word “chignon” comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou”, which means “nape of the neck”. It is a versatile hairdo that can be worn in the classic style for formal occasions, or as a messy one for a casual weekend look. This style was popularised by ancient Greek women and usually styled with hairpins.

You can tweak this hairdo according to what your plans are for the day. Go for a minimalist, neat bun with slim braids or twists, and accessorise with delicate hairpins or flowers if you’re going for a formal event like a wedding. For the weekend, you can tease your hair and make a messy bun for a casual dinner.

Anybody can pull off this style effortlessly. I’m known for always wearing a bun — be it at college, while dining out with friends, shopping, or even right now in the office while I’m writing this article. So there’s nobody more excited than me to discover the many ways to wear this trend. Long locks or short, you too can try a chignon and look effortlessly pretty!

Here’s a tutorial on how to get an elegant chignon in minutes:
