Reviewed: L’Oréal Paris 3-In-1 Micellar Water

Removing your makeup at the end of the day is probably one of the most satisfying experiences ever. It’s like literally taking the entire day off your face — all the grime, oil, and dirt that’s settled into your pores throughout your stressful day.

One might think that simply washing your face with a cleanser would do the trick, but don’t be fooled by ignorance the way I was.

Cleansing is essential, but only post makeup removal — this is mainly because JUST washing your face isn’t enough to take out all the crap.

Step in micellar water! I remember micellar water being a craze a couple of years ago, and how much people raved about this ingenious makeup remover.

L’Oreal Paris’s new micellar water basically does 3 things in one go — it cleanses, removes makeup, and soothes your skin, while moisturising it along the way.

So I put this so-called magic to the test and I was pleasantly surprised.

Let’s begin with the packaging. Like every brand of micellar water, the plastic bottle is transparent; it’s travel-friendly as it’s compact; and in it lies a clear water-like liquid.

The product is perfectly suited for oily, sensitive skin — it’s fragrance-free and doesn’t contain oil or alcohol, so I couldn’t wait to see what this had in store for me.

L’Oreal Paris Micellar Water (Rs 475)*

I used L’Oreal Paris’s Micellar Water over a period of a month and I found that it does exactly what it says. It had a light texture to it and pretty much felt like water when I wiped off my makeup.

It removed foundation, lipstick, kajal, liquid liner, and eyeshadow pretty easily, and didn’t require much effort.

Post removal, it left my skin feeling refreshed and soft, and not oily at all. Usually makeup removal products leave an oily residue, but this one didn’t do so. I didn’t breakout either!

The only problem I had with this is that it didn’t takeout heavy waterproof makeup very well — not as well as it did with the normal products.

Taking waterproof mascara out was a nightmare with this, as I had to literally rub the product out of my lashes (which isn’t how other eye makeup removers work).

I guess since it’s not oil-based, it doesn’t work as well on anything that sticks.

In all, L’Oreal Paris’s Micellar Water gets my thumbs up! It does what it promises and leaves your skin feeling fresh and moisturised.
