All The Best Beauty Looks From The Met Gala 2016

This year’s theme of the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala was Manus vs. Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Obviously, it got us thinking as to how our favourite Hollywood stars would incorporate the futuristic theme their hair and makeup looks. I must say, they DID NOT disappoint.

Keep scrolling to see some of our favourite looks from the night:

Ciara

Ciara’s silver-gray hair was styled in finger waves and accentuated with silver bobby pins.

Nicki Minaj

Never one to take the conventional route in hair and makeup, Minaj wore her signature winged liner and nude lips with sharp blonde highlights.

Katie Holmes

Katie sported really long poker straight hair reminiscent of the 70s. But it was her spider lashes that stole the show.

Freida Pinto

The super glittery gold shadow on Pinto’s brow bone was to die for.

Rose Byrne

The sleek, graduated lob, coupled with the deep berry-red lips gave Byrne a sophisticated edge over the others.

Hailee Steinfeld

I don’t know anyone else who can carry off dark smokey eyes along with glossy oxblood lips and a braid in a centre part.

Lupita Nyong’o

People, this is what art looks like. Lupita’s updo was very futuristic!

FKA Twigs

I love FKA’s nonchalant vibe in general, and I especially loved her tightly braided updo.

Saoirse Ronan

That luminescent skin, flawless winged-tip eyeliner and those fluttery lashes. Love at first sight!

Katy Perry

Who knew lilac eyeshadow could look so great against blue kohl on the waterline and blue mascara? Carrying off black lips along with such daring make-up is no biggie for Katy. Those blunt bangs and dramatic beehive, though!

Kerry Washington

Kerry wore her curls in the most flattering shade of fuchsia.

Emma Stone

I’m so accustomed to seeing Emma in pale hair, that the dark hair was a shocker. That and the silvery-grey smokey eye.

Nicole Kidman

What seemed like regular milkmaid braids actually ended in an intricate braided low-do on Kidman.

Kristen Stewart

That silvery-white graphic eyeliner coupled with Stewart’s dirty blonde locks looked sharp!

Jourdan Dunn

Dunn makes the silver-grey asymmetrical lob work for her and how.

Emily Ratajkowski

Ratajkowski kept everything neat and sharp looking. Be it her centre-parted sleek hair or the cat-eyeliner.

Poppy Delevingne

Poppy was one of the few who wore gothic brown lipstick with panache.

Karlie Kloss

Kloss kept things classy with her bright red lips and neat updo.

Taylor Swift

We knew Swift was definitely moving away from her classic makeup routine after we spotted this vampy shade of brown on her at Coachella. And her look from the Met Gala nails it!

Kate Bosworth

The first thought we had on Kate’s hair was it looked exactly like the Grecian filter on Snapchat and she confessed that it was indeed the inspiration behind her look.

Jennifer Hudson

That rad shade of purple coupled with that smokey eye only Hudson could have carried off.

Lily Aldridge

This is how you do glitter as an adult. Love the gold brows and that creamy mocha lipstick on Lily.

Willow Smith

This here is a prime example of getting your bling right. That flicked eyeliner and single sequin on the lower lid is just how you should be blinging it.

La La Anthony

Anthony wore the most daring smokey eye colour ever. Her beautiful purple-plum eyeshadow was smoked out in a fierce cat eye.

Zendaya

Zendaya wore her hair in a short bob with blunt bangs. No doubt, a wig!

Elle Fanning

Who said you can’t wear a ponytail with a dress? Fanning’s high ponytail is edgy as hell.

Beyonce Knowles

Pin straight hair, nude lips and deep green eyeshadow made Beyonce look mesmerising.

Bella Hadid

I’m not kidding when I say I would kill for cheekbones like Hadid’s.

Lara Stone

With her voluminous bouffant and thick eyeliner, Stone looked like a 70s pin-up girl.

Emma Roberts

The tightly woven Dutch braids were pinned to Robert’s head to look like an intricate updo. I love the loose wispy tendrils that frame her face and keep the hair from looking severe.

Rita Ora

Who said you have to be fierce to match the theme? Ora’s mirrored appliques were the prettiest hair accessory of the night!
