Get Kim K’s $770 Makeup Look For Less

Last week, much to the delight of the Kardashian fan base and makeup lovers worldwide, Kim Kardashian West live-streamed her go-to makeup routine on her app. The video, linked below, is now on her official Youtube page for the world to see and learn. Surprisingly enough, Kim doesn’t always have a glam squad at her beck and call. She has her very own makeup-under-10-minutes routine.

 

For those of us who aren’t making the tough choices between Giorgio Armani foundation or Chanel, and aren’t blessed with cameos from Kanye West or Jonathan Cheban, here’s how you can get the look for less! #TheStruggleIsSoReal

1. The Wipes

Luckily, this one we can most definitely afford. Kim K swears by Neutrogena cleansing wipes. When you’re short on time, this is one of the best ways to get your face clean and prepped for makeup.

2. Moisturizer

Kim uses the La Mer Perfecting Treatment to moisturise her skin before makeup. Sure, the La Mer treatment works wonders, especially for drier skin, but one jar is worth a bomb. A cheaper alternative that works just as well, if not better, is Pond’s Cold cream. Yes, you read that right. Both products have similar ingredients, consistencies, and almost the same fragrance.

3. Primer

When it comes to primer, Kim opts for the Guerlain Méteorites Base Perfecting Pearls Primer. But if you don’t want to spend upwards of 5,000 rupees, then try NYX Honey Dew Me Up primer. It gives the same sheen and glow for less.

4.  Shimmer

The biggest takeaway from this makeup routine is the layers of skin prep that come before base application. These layers are what truly perfect your foundation. Kim uses Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer over her face and décolletage for subtle shimmer. You can try the Faces Ultime Pro Metaliglow instead. For quicker application, mix it with your moisturizer.

5. Liquid Highlight

Adding a little twist to her makeup routine, Kim applies Benefit Cosmetics’ High Beam highlighter to the high points of her face. She does this before, and not after, her foundation.

6. Foundation

Giorgio Armani seems to be favorite in Kim’s vanity. She uses the Crema Nuda Tinted Cream by Giorgio Armani as foundation. While there’s nothing out there quite like the Crema Nuda, L’Oréal’s True Match is a great dupe for the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. As Kim advises, don’t forget to cover up all the way till the back of your neck for a natural finish.

7. Concealer

 

When it comes to concealer, Kim doubles it up. First, she opts for a drier Kryolan Dermacolor Palette concealer and seals it in with the Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer. The Kryolan concealer is affordable, but the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is a great substitute for the Makeup Forever concealer.

8. Highlighter

Obviously, Kim uses the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighter, one of the best highlighters in the business. Kim opts for the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz for her brows, LORAC Baked Eyeshadow Trio for her eyes, and a Kevyn Aucoin mascara for her lashes. She does layer more than one mascara on her lashes with clumpy bottom lashes for a signature Kim K look. 10. Lips

Kim wears the Kylie Lip Kit in Candy K. Kim doesn’t specify a few products during her routine: namely, which eyeliner she used, which contour powder she used, and which pink and yellow translucent powders she used to bake her concealer. While we’re left with a little guesswork here, it’s important to remember that there are plenty of drugstore options that work just as well as their high-end counterparts. It’s all about experimentation! Just dab some powder to set in your makeup, add a little dimension to your face with a matte bronzer, and make a small wing with your eyeliner to complete this look.
