My skin has been a wreck, y’all. Let us all observe a moment of silence for my formerly amazing skin before I start whining. The change in season, coupled with the increased pollution levels, stress and lack of sleep has really taken a toll on my face. And unfortunately, the effects were beginning to show. Not only did my skin look inflamed AF, but dryness and dullness were my skin’s new mantra. FML. I wanted to add a product to my routine that would not only heal my skin, but also give it the TLC it so desperately deserved. Luckily for me, I started testing the Kal Hans Rejuvenation & Repair serum (I’m going to call it the R&R serum) and over the course of the past 3 weeks, it has worked wonders on me.
What’s Kal Hans, you wonder? Kal Hans is a vegan, all-natural brand that’s the new kid on the skincare block. The brand utilizes the power of age-old botanics to create products that help you feel more confident in your skin. I was excited about the various antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients in this recipe, I wondered, “could it be the next Midnight Recovery Concentrate?” Although the ingredient list is different, both products take the same, all-natural route to repairing skin whilst you sleep. The Kal Hans formula packs in rosehip and pomegranate, both of which are great sources of Vitamins A & C – anti-aging superstars. The addition of Sea Buckthorn and Hemp oil makes this serum great for calming inflammation and reducing the harm caused by exposure to pollution and UV rays.
Here’s how I added the R&R serum to my routine – after cleansing with this amazing product, I wash my face with the CosRX Good Morning Gel cleanser, I tone with the brand’s rose water, follow it up with the R&R serum and my favourite moisturizer. In my opinion, this serum works best on people whose skin is on the drier side. The serum isn’t too heavy, and gets absorbed within 15-20 minutes of application. I used a rose quartz roller to aid absorption, help with lymphatic drainage and encourage relaxation. It’s also such an indulgent way to end the day. On application, you’ll be greeted by a herbaceous, yet floral fragrance that could be overpowering if you don’t like scented skincare. I personally LOVE it.
The best part about this product? It’s effective. I honestly did not expect to see changes in less than a month. You’ll wake up to skin that’s moisturized, plumper and after a few weeks, you’ll find yourself looking younger. I love how the brand encourages us to embrace our flaws, and honestly, this serum has helped me embrace my own.
