How To Do Day-Appropriate Shimmer At Work
The weekend is here and I couldn’t be happier. I certainly wish I could jump up and click my heels while I hum my happy song, but I’m not sure that kind of exuberance is appropriate at work! So I express myself with make-up instead. Anyone who is even remotely acquainted with me knows that I love to play up my eyes. So today, I decided to use a double dose of shimmery colours to accentuate my eyes and show off the brightness I’m feeling both inside and out!
First I used Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencil in Glowing Sapphire — a shimmery deep blue — to create a fine but visible line over my eyelids. I then drew another line on top of this using Inglot Liquid Liner in Silver, which means more shimmery goodness. I don’t know if it’s legal to use this much shimmer at work, but hey…it’s Fri-yay, y’all!
In the event that you think I’m completely insane by this point, let me assure you that some sanity did prevail. So I lined only the outer half of my lower lash line with Lakmé Eyeconic Kajal in Grey. Party on top, business below, yeah? One coat of Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express Mascara in a waterproof formula (’cause nobody’s got time for streaky mascara, and there’s still a day to go for Halloween) and I was done. A hint of MAC Cremeblend Blush in Florida on the apples of my cheeks and some blush pink Miss Claire Soft Matte Lip Cream made my look all bright and happy.
My fourth-day hair (I like to push things a little too far and washing my hair is one of them. Needless to say, dry shampoo is my best friend!) was pulled into a haphazard bun but I wasn’t feeling it this morning. it just didn’t do justice to the fabulous eyes. So I took it down, created a deep-sided parting and started a Dutch braid right at the hairline. I must say, the best way to show off your highlights is through braids. It looks smashing, if I do say so myself! ;)
