Fake Your Way To Fuller Eyebrows In 3 Easy Steps!

Fake Your Way To Fuller Eyebrows In 3 Easy Steps!

The rule of thumb while choosing a good makeup artist is to check out his/her previous work and see how well they do eyebrows. I would totally judge an artist if he/she can’t fill in eyebrows properly, or worse, completely skip them. Brows frame the face and pull your whole look together, so you absolutely can’t ignore them. While I’m in no way a fan of Instagram eyebrows (read: tarantulas on the forehead), there are subtle ways to fake a fuller brow if you are not gifted in that department.

1. Backcomb

The easiest way to thicken eyebrows is to backcomb them. Always start with combing your hair with a spoolie brush. Remember to work against the direction of the growth. If you have really thin eyebrows, use a volumising brow gel to tease your brows. The fibres in the formula hold on to the eyebrow hair making them look thicker and voluminous. Once you’ve done this add a second coat to set them in place by combing them in the direction of the hair growth.

2. Fill

If you have thin eyebrows or have bald spots, fill them in with an eyebrow pencil using short hair-like strokes. Start from the base and move upwards, mimicking the movement of your natural eyebrows. Space out your strokes and be light-handed because you want the end result to look as natural as possible.

3. Blend

The reason for most makeup faux pas is almost always lazy, half-hearted blending, or not blending at all. So there’s absolutely no chance eyebrows can go unblended. Once you’ve worked in your products and filled your eyebrows, brush off the excess product with a spoolie brush. This also helps in distributing product evenly if you’ve been heavy-handed or have applied product unevenly. Remember to create a gradient effect because brows tend to be lighter and finer in the inner corner and gradually become dense and thicker towards the arches and ends.
