Trend To Try: How To Get A Minimalistic Makeup Look With Bold Lips?

Get The Look_Minimalistic wedding makeup_Hauterfly

When you think of minimalistic makeup, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Something clean, something fresh, and something not-so-basic, yet subtle, right?

The opening act of India Couture Week 2017 saw designer Rohit Bal’s regal collection — and along with that came the royal colours of beauty.

Keeping things simple yet a little bold and fierce was MAC’s Director of Makeup Artistry, who brought out the regal hue through the perfect pout.

This runway look is one anybody can try, and since wedding season is around the corner, you’d want to keep this in your bridal file.

As you can tell, the prime focus is on the lips, with midnight plum adding the glam-factor to it. While the base is nude, the colour palette used in this beauty look is quite warm and earthy.

If you’re a bride and need some inspo, this is one trend you should try. Here’s how you can achieve the look, with a balance of both high-end and affordable products.

FACE

As we’ve mentioned before, the base is basic and subtle. Firstly, make sure to moisturise your skin in order to create that natural glow on the surface of your face and neck. Move on to the primer and dab the product in for a smoother finish.

With a sheer base foundation, brush on the liquid across your face. Remember, the finish shouldn’t be matte but shouldn’t provide a sheen either. Over and above the foundation, conceal and correct any blemishes or discolouration, especially around the mouth, nose, and eyes.

Moving on to the cheeks, define them with a brown-hued blush, adding definition to the cheekbones.

Finish off the base with a powdered foundation to set your face.

NYX Conceal and Correct (Rs 1,325)

EYES

Prep the eyelids with a cream-based primer that has a creamish hue to it. Shade in your eyelids with a powdered eyeshadow in a deeper chocolate brown — make sure that it’s darker towards the outer corner and gradually blend to a lesser pigment in the inner corners of your eyes.

Coat your lashes with a layer or 2 of voluminising mascara, to give you that false lash effect.

Inglot Eye Primer (Rs 800)

LA Girl Eye Lux Mesmerising Eye Shadow in Idolize (Rs 675)

Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express (Rs 375)

LIPS

The most essential part of your look, line your lips with a deep (and I mean really deep and dark) plum.

If you want to add more definition to your lips, colour them in a tad bit with the liner, leaving the centre of your lips less pigmented.

With a lip stain or lipstick in a deep plum, fill in the rest of lips, making sure that the colour is within the lines.

Pout and pose, and you’re ready!
