10 Things Girls With Fabulous Hair Always Do

10 Things Girls With Fabulous Hair Always Do

While you can’t undermine the role genetics plays when it comes to having great hair, you can’t blame it all on the genes either if it isn’t — especially if your haircare regime is lazy, at best. Celebrities might look like they were born with good hair (which may be partially true), but they also give their manes all the TLC that money can buy. After all, a big part of their appeal is looking good (and effortlessly beautiful) at all times.

However, you don’t have to spend a small fortune to have good hair days. These simple habits will work wonders for your tresses, and bad hair days will definitely be a thing of the past!

1. Go easy on heat

Embracing your natural texture is easier said than done. It’s not practical to go off heat styling altogether, but you can definitely wean yourself off the urge to grab the blowdryer and/or iron every single morning. Try limiting their use to perhaps once a week, and ALWAYS use a heat protectant before styling. Also, resist the urge to crank up the heat settings.

2. Use cool water

Hot water strips the scalp dry of its natural oils, making it dry and flaky. So avoid using hot water to wash your hair. Try lukewarm or cool water instead.

3. Try Masking

Whatever your hair issues be, there’s a mask for every problem. Whether your hair is dry, frizzy, stressed, over-processed, or damaged, a weekly, at-home, deep conditioning treatment will restore your locks to good health.

4. Use silk pillowcases

Do yourself a favour and ditch the cotton pillow cover for a silk one. You’ll notice a world of difference in your locks.

5. Get a massage

Getting a head massage is divine. It not only feels heavenly but also boosts circulation. This increased blood flow promotes hair growth. So give your scalp a good rub with your fingertips at the end of a long day, and also get a professional massage every two weeks or so. But you know there’s nothing better than your mother’s coconut oil-drenched champi!

6. Cut down on shampoo

Shampooing too often will strip your scalp and hair of its natural oils and dry them out. Try to avoid shampooing every other day unless the weather calls for it. Try wearing your hair up in braids, ponytails, and updos if you don’t like how your hair looks on the second (or third) day after a wash. Also, use dry shampoo judiciously between shampoo sessions.

7. Eat right

This must be the oldest trick in the book, but you are literally what you eat. The best way to strengthen your hair and add shine to lacklustre locks is to consume high-quality proteins like fish, meat, and legumes.

8. Go for regular trims

Getting your hair trimmed regularly will ensure that it doesn’t look like a rat’s tail by eliminating split ends. Also, they look and feel healthier when you get a little trim ever so often.

9. Moisturise

The ends of your hair can do with a shot of moisture on a daily basis. Use a light cream, serum, or oil only on the ends to keep them hydrated.

10. Keep their hands off

Your hair is better off when you don’t fidget it with it too much. Don’t brush it when it’s wet because that’s when it is most fragile. Overzealous combing and brushing will only cause hair to get frizzy. Limit your brushing to once a day, and choose a brush with thin, flexible bristles.
