This CULT Favourite Face Mask Is Like Magic For Oily Skin

There are some products you just know are going to fail even before you’ve tried them on. And then there are others that are SO hyped up that you get beyond excited to try them out. And that one product that’s been on my wish list for a while now is the GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment.

So much so, that I even asked my bestie in the USA to bring it for me when she comes to town next month. But surprise, surprise… GlamGlow has arrived in India and a selection of their super-hyped masks landed on my desk only last week. Needless to say, I did a little happy dance and took home the SuperMud to try at home last weekend.

Founded by the husband-wife duo of Glenn and Shannon Dellimore in 2010, GlamGlow has gotten a lot of love by Hollywood celebrities, international beauty publications, bloggers, and social media influencers for its line of innovative mud masks. So much so, that the cult favourite grey mud has become something of a holy grail treatment for women before a big event.

And let me tell you ladies, this product has really EARNED the love.

 

GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment

 

When I initially opened the 50 gm jar, the first thing that hit me was its earthy eucalyptus scent. I was a little concerned because heavily scented products and my skin usually don’t play well with each other. But I was so determined to test drive it that I slathered on a thin layer of the minty, kaolin clay-based mask with bated breath.

First things first, the mask dries really quickly. It is thin and silky in texture, which is a big departure from the thick and goopy charcoal masks you get from other brands. Secondly, you can literally see tiny dots of oil show through your T-Zone as they’re being sucked out of your pores — that’s the activated charcoal doing its work. Don’t judge me but there’s something oddly satisfying about that view!

The SuperMud treatment also contains salicylic and lactic acids that help loosen all the sebum buildup and dead skin and exfoliate your skin beautifully. I put it on for about 20 minutes and washed it off easily with lukewarm water.

What I noticed immediately is how clean and matte my skin looked. Usually, products with fragrance inflame my skin instantly. But the soothing aloe and calendula must have done their jobs well, because there was little to no redness and my skin felt super soft. The next thing I noticed was how dry my skin felt, so I slathered on my usual nighttime face oil to hydrate it. And I have to say, I was impressed by the smooth and clear results.

As someone with naturally oily skin, large pores, and a nose full of blackheads, GlamGlow’s SuperMud Clearing Treatment is a top-notch product for me. And I’ve found that I need its vacuum-like abilities only in my T-Zone instead of my entire face, as it reduces the appearance of blackheads rather dramatically. It’s great as a spot treatment for pesky pimples too, and literally dries them out overnight.

You can see it working right before your eyes, which is the type of instant gratification I love in a skincare product. Highly recommended!
