10 Beauty Products Hauterfly Editors Love Right Now

[tps_title][/tps_title]

No day at Hauterfly HQ goes by without some beauty talk during edit meetings and/or coffee breaks. Being a team full of girls, we’re almost always admiring each other’s beauty game, guessing which products everyone is using, and even discussing each other’s make-up, hair and skin issues. It only made sense then to share the goodness of our conversations with our readers.

Without much ado, here are the 10 beauty products that are our absolute favourites right now.

Zahra Khan – Editor-in-Chief

Sensibio H2O – Bioderma

1. Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water (Rs 599)
I hate to admit it, but I’m terribly lazy with my beauty routine. I work long hours and hate washing my face with soap or face wash at the end of the day. They really dry out my skin and then I have to moisturise, etc., when all I really want to do is climb into bed. It’s been a year since I’ve been using Bioderma’s Micellar Water and it’s a total lifesaver. It’s super gentle on my sensitive skin and wipes away make-up and impurities in a flash. I dab a generous amount onto Johnson’s Baby Skincare Wipes (if it’s safe for babies, it’s good enough for me!) and use it over my entire face and neck. What’s amazing is that this product also hydrates my skin well, so I don’t have to use moisturiser after I’m done. Did I mention that you don’t need to rinse your face either? #LazyGirlHacks!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream_Hauterfly

2. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream (Rs 2,320)
I have combination skin and a really oily T-zone, so this gel cream from Kiehl’s works really well as a day-time moisturiser. Its texture is light and airy and absorbs instantly, leaving my skin looking and feeling fresh and more balanced. I’ve been using this for six months now and I can tell you it’s perfect for Mumbai’s hot and humid weather. It significantly reduces the appearance of oil, preventing my face from looking like the Gulf Oil Spill by mid-afternoon. This product may look small, but trust me, a little goes a long way!

Colorbar Amethyst Spark Eye Pencil_Hauterfly

3. Colorbar Amethyst Spark Eye Pencil (Rs 499)
Asking a make-up junkie to pick two favourites is like asking her to choose her favourite finger. Between countless rounds of my dresser and feeling like a traitor, I’ve (sort of) settled on two. I’ve always loved doing up my eyes rather than my lips, and Colorbar’s Amethyst Spark remains my undisputed favourite product. A vibrant purple pencil with shimmer, it’s not really appropriate for daywear — but then again, rules are meant to be broken, right? I prefer all my make-up to be water-proof and smudge-proof, and this does not fail in either department. The colour payoff is great, although I do two-three swipes to bring out its vibrancy. Also, it doesn’t budge (ain’t nobody got time to take off make-up after a hard night of partying!).

Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation_Hauterfly-1

4. Lancôme Teint Miracle (Rs 3,182)
I have oily skin and I’m not particularly fond of foundation, especially those that change or neutralise your skin tone. I like my undertone as it is, that’s why I love Teint Miracle because it doesn’t mess around. It provides enough coverage for my relatively blemish-free skin, is humidity proof, and looks dewy. Although I don’t wear foundation often, Teint Miracle is what I turn to when the occasion calls for it.

Rivela Tint Suncreen Lotion SPF 50_Hauterfly

5. Rivela Tint Suncreen Lotion SPF 50 (Rs 414)
After going through a bold-lip phase followed by the absolutely-no-makeup one, I’m now going through a natural-with-just-a-hint-of-colour phase. Which is why I love using good base products to let my skin show through. I really like the Rivela Sunscreen as it is light, moisturising, non-comedogenic, and tinted — all of this without being greasy — which means it is a dream-come-true for my oily, acne-prone skin. I don’t go anywhere without it. It’s my go-to 9 am, 12 pm and 4 pm dab, and I love it. Running out of it before I’ve had the chance to restock can lead to major panic situations. Clearly, I LOVE my sunscreen.

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Eau de Toilette_Hauterfly

6. Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Toilette (Rs 5,834)
IMO, every girl must have one fragrance that has the ability to turn her into the Queen of Sass, and L’Eau d’Issey does that for me. Whenever I’ve worn it, I’ve gotten nothing but compliments. It’s subtle yet complex, fresh yet rich. It’s light and floral top notes belie its strong, musky base notes. Such an antithesis. And so me!

Benefit Watt’s Up! Highlighter_Hauterfly

7. Benefit Watt’s Up! Highlighter (Rs 5,900)
I’m enthralled by the make-up looks the girls at Hauterfly rock each day and would love to use some of them myself. But applying make-up is too much of an effort, and I don’t do it as often as I would like to. Since my style is more comfortable and minimalist (two adjectives that perfectly mask my impatience with make-up), I prefer using no-fuss products. And Benefit’s highlighter is one of them. If a product can look this good that too with my amateur, hurried application, then it really is something!

MAC So Chaud Matte Lipstick_Hauterfly

8. MAC So Chaud Matte Lipstick (Rs 1,450)
So Chaud is the kind of colour that gets me in party mode with just one swipe. It is bright and has hues of orange and red in just the right proportion.

Faces Ultime Pro Long Wear Lipstick in Read My Lip_Hauterfly-1

9. Faces Read My Lips (Rs 699)
Make-up is a reflection of one’s personality and this couldn’t be more true in my case. I like to go easy on the eyes during the day with just a little mascara, and avoid wearing eyeliner or blush unless I’m going out in the evenings. Right now, I’m having fun with lipsticks. Read My Lips is a lovely, bright fuschia that instantly brightens up my face. The colour is highly pigmented and the formula is very matte and it sits perfectly with my skin tone. It’s my go-to mood-uplifting colour. I like to alternate this with a Nude Lip Liner from Teen Teen (Rs 169) on days when I want a no-lipstick look.

Lakme Liquid Liner_Hauterfly

10. Lakme Liquid Liner (Rs 85)
This eyeliner is my favourite because it turns matte once you apply it. It is downright fabulous and kick-ass!
