India’s love for festivals has been a forever affair and while they often bring joy, prosperity and good luck to our lives, some of them can be a bit too hard on our skin. Holi being one of them. The festival’s colourful celebrations bring the harshest effects to our skin and that’s when a nourishing after-care comes in play. So, to help you get your happy skin back, we reached out to India’s leading clinical and aesthetic dermatologist– Dr Madhuri Agarwal. And fret not, we have everything covered for you. Check the following steps.
Post Holi Skincare Steps
● Rinse off Holi colours as soon as possible after celebrations and gently remove dry colour using your palms before stepping into the shower.
● Choose a mild, soap-free cleanser instead of harsh soaps.
● Bathe with lukewarm or cool water to avoid skin irritation and dryness.
Things to watchout for –
1) Avoid rubbing or scrubbing too hard as it further leads to skin damage.
2) Moisturising the skin is very important.

What About Clinical Treatments?
If you’re planning to hit the clinic for an even more rejuvenating treatment, Dr Madhuri has some tips for you–“In clinic treatments after Holi you should wait for a few days for the skin to settle down and then do the treatments. The common one we do at our Yavana clinic, Mumbai is the Aqua Revive, which is basically done for boosting hydration and mild gentle peels for exfoliation and also infusion of nutrition in the skin. So it is to revive and repair the skin barrier and improve the skin health.”
She added–“Then we also do something like carbon peel, which is again having a laser toning element. So it helps to reduce the congestion and the dead skin build-up which helps with the tan that you get while playing Holi.”
She further suggested getting skin boosters, that offer growth factors–amino acids, vitamin C, glutathione. It is done to bring down the skin dehydration caused during the celebrations due to excessive colours, sweet treats and less water intake. Dr Madhuri suggests skin boosters for better hydration, and for the intense repair of your skin barrier.
“Avoid immediately after the Holi doing lot of resurfacing lasers or aggressive treatments which can again impact the skin barrier,” says Dr Madhuri.
Well, we are totally headed to get the treatment as suggested by Dr Madhuri. What’s your plan?
