Q. If We Were To Open Palak Tiwari’s Handbag, What Beauty Products Will We Find?

Palak Tiwari: My bag is like a magic hat so, it has everything that you can possibly need but it’s very personalized. I carry the perfume I wear at night, lip gloss, setting power and floss and other hygiene stuff and it has my Gush Beauty super stack lipsticks. On days when I’m quite decisive, I keep just one of the stacks.

Q. What’s Your Everyday Go-To Makeup Like? What Products Do You Use To Create This Look?

Palak Tiwari: I think it’s essential to understand what really works for your face. So, in 2015-2016, I used to think that the more the better, like the more makeup I put the better I’ll look but as I grew older I realise that your makeup needs to suit your skin and my skin looks better with less coverage on my face. So, now I really avoid foundation. I never put foundation instead I put a glowing primer or moisturiser, or concealer and set it with powder only in my undereye area. I avoid using powder all over my face since I have dry skin. I use a cream-based contour and blush and some powder highlighter around my brows. I like to spend the extra 10 minutes I save to do my base to do my eyes because I think that really makes all the difference.

Q. If You Could Only Wear 2 Lipstick Colors For The Rest Of Your Life, Which Would Be These Lip Colors?

Palak Tiwari: I think it would be a pink nude shade and a subtle brown. I believe that those are the two colours that a woman really needs and I think with the combination of those two, one can really find absolutely everything under the sun so, definitely pick those two shades.

Q. What’s Your Everyday Beauty Ritual?

Palak Tiwari: My beauty ritual is pretty mundane actually nothing out of the ordinary, just moisturizer, and lots of sunscreen followed by my everyday makeup look with a nude lip and rosy cheeks.

Q. How Do You Tackle Skin Woes?

Palak Tiwari: I think your skin tends to get better with time unless there’s a hormonal imbalance. Sometimes, this is also when people go wrong in terms of skincare. They try topical treatments on acne that is hormonal and can only be treated with oral medications. So, I think consulting a dermatologist is essential. But when I experience an occasional zit, I rely on topical treatments and they work the best.

Q. Name The Best And Worst Makeup Trends Of 2022

Palak Tiwari: I really hated the whole bleached eyebrow look. I just never liked that makeup trend. The one makeup trend that I absolutely adored and have been sticking to for a while is putting on lots of cream blush and then applying a thin layer of concealer to sort of let it peek through. I think it’s such a beautiful trend. I also use my lipsticks for my cheeks and then apply a layer of a tinted moisturiser to let my blush peek through and it’s so stunning.

Q. You’re Big On Highlighters, But What Is It That You Look For When You Pick A Highlighter?

Palak Tiwari: I try to avoid any highlighter with chunks of shimmer in it because the idea is to highlight the texture of your skin even. Even if your skin does not have much texture, a good highlighter can give texture to your skin. That’s why it’s best to avoid anything with chunky shimmer. I really like highlighters that give a natural look but my go-to highlighter is a cream-based one.

Q. Can You Share Some Makeup Hacks That You Swear By?

Palak Tiwari: There was a time when I would get bad flashbacks in makeup. Back then I used to use a powder of the same tone as my skin tone and a lighter colour for a brightening effect. But now, I mix one shade darker powder with a brightening power so, I don’t get any white cast.

Q. What Is Your Skincare Regime Like?

Palak Tiwari: My morning and night skincare routines are different. In the morning, I make sure to use moisturiser and sunscreen. I tackle my skin concerns at night with my skincare routine. I use hyaluronic acid if my skin is feeling dry or a copper peptides serum followed by a moisturiser. I also like using snail mucin followed by a moisturiser to just lock the serum in and allow the skin to absorb the ingredients. I also apply a good lip sleeping mask before I hit the bed.

Q. Can You Share All The Beauty Tips You’ve Stolen From Your Mom?

Palak Tiwari: I used to look up to my mom and how she applied her makeup when I was younger but as I grew old I realised that our face shapes are different and the products we use for our makeup also vary. Honestly, my mom is like the queen of the no-makeup makeup look. I don’t know how she applies her concealer but she doesn’t even use any powder to set it and yet even after putting makeup on, she looks like herself without makeup but just more stunning and beautiful. Even after putting makeup on, she just looks like she drank two glasses of water and stood in the sun for a bit. Her no-makeup makeup look is just unbeatable, that’s how well she does it. But I don’t like my makeup that simple and natural.

Q. Which Celebs Or Influencers Do You Follow For Makeup Inspiration?

Palak Tiwari: I truly believe that to follow someone else and take inspiration from them is where you essentially go wrong. One should just create their own makeup looks on their face. It takes trial and error to figure out what works for you and what works for your face and that is very different from what works on someone else’s face. I stopped following people for makeup look inspiration a while back because I realise that looks that may work for them, may not look good on, me no matter how much I love the look because the shape of our eyes might be different or the shape of faces might be different. So, I just think it’s all about trial and error.
