Janvi Manchanda (Managing Editor, Hauterrfly)

“Every person’s skin has different needs as per their skin types and festive season habits. But personally, there are 2 things I believe in. Nothing heals the skin like getting good 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night for at least a week after the festive season. Celebrations are the time when we eat outside and drink alcohol, sleeping much less and all of this tends to stress out our skin as much as it stresses out our bodies. So, rest is the first step. My second step is to let my skin breathe. I am guilty of sleeping without taking my makeup off during Diwali week so, a small break from makeup for up to 10 days allows my skin some respite. Apart from that, I stick to a simple CTM regime. I trust Mixsoon Centella Cleansing Foam, followed by their Bean Toner Pads and The Ordinary’ Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan gel to moisturise during the day followed by sunscreen. For night time skincare, I use The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + PhytoCeramides for hydration. Add to that a clean diet (aka ghar ka khana) and that’s all my skin needs to heal.”

Mansi Shah (Former Managing Editor, Hauterrfly; Former Digital Editor, Elle)

“Whatever happens, hydrate. That’s a skincare definite that you cannot skip. Sunscreen- I love the Bioderma one that comes with a light tint. It gives coverage and is lightweight. I love myself some moisturiser but nothing heavy- Clinique’s Moisture Surge is great for this. And during this time, I would definitely recommend a double cleanse. Use a great cleansing balm and I like to follow that up with Cerave’s cleanser. I then make sure I use a toner- the Pixi Glow tonic remains a favourite. I then slather on the hydrating sleeping mask from Laneige.”

“My post-Diwali skincare routine is doing a proper skin and diet detox. I revert to the only CHP (Cleanse, Hydrate, Protect) routine to let my skin breathe. Along with that, I keep my diet simple which helps flush out the toxins from all the eating and drinking that happens during festivals.”

Jasveen Kaur Sawhney (Associate Editor, Hauterrfly)

“I struggle with acne so, if you have acne-prone skin like me, I’d say go and visit your dermat immediately after the festive season to get the perfect regime to revive your skin. Apart from that, just fo makeup free for a few days, stay hydrated and give your skin some rest.”

Rachna Srivastava (Managing Editor, Curly Tales India And Middle East)

“I’m not big on beauty but the best post-Diwali beauty and diet hack for me is turmeric water. This helps cleanse my gut and makes my skin glow after all the stress and fun of the festive season. All you need to do is add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in water, boil it and sip on it. It’s better if you can get turmeric root instead of powder.”

“I believe in using the most gentle possible cleanser and for me, that’s Cetaphil Skin Cleanser, I also hydrate my skin with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Nourishing Cream. There’s nothing like kadha to detox your body and skin. Just add some mishri (rock sugar), bay leaves, cinnamon and crushed ginger in boiling water and simmer it for a bit till the water turns a little reddish brown. Just the smell of it detoxifies my senses. Once it’s ready, just strain it and sip on it.”

“I like to keep my routine simple but I make sure to mix and match essentials. For my AM routine, I opt for double cleansing, with Clinique’s Take The Day Off cleansing balm followed by COSRX gel face wash. I follow it up with a Thank You Farmer Toner, Clinique’s moisture surge and Minimalist’s sunscreen. My PM routine is much simpler with a quick face wash (either the balm or gel wash) followed by Laneige’s Bouncy Sleeping Mask and a lip balm from Inde Wilde. I throw in a sheet mask for added hydration or use Pixi’s Milky Mist to spray it over for a quick fresh feel.”
