Deepika Pairs Bold Lips With Smokey Eyes And It’s Amazing!

Deepika Pairs Bold Lips With Smokey Eyes And It’s Amazing!

One thing I hear all too often is that less is more when it comes to make-up, which isn’t a bad thing at all. But always erring on the side of caution can get boring as hell. Make-up is a great form of self-expression and I don’t see the point in holding back from experimenting and having fun. My motto in life has always been to learn the rules and then break them. I know it’s not original, but hey, it’s something worth trying, right?

I love people who rebel in subtle ways, like Deepika Padukone does here in this look. See how she has a prominent smokey eye going on and has paired it with a strong orange-red lip? For most people it’s a definite no-no, but see how beautifully she carries it off? The trick here is to select the right colour palettes. Here’s how you can get her look too.

Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation_Hauterfly-1

Lâncome Teint Miracle Foundation (Rs 2,952)

Start with a medium coverage foundation. I like Lâncome’s Teint Miracle for its dewy effect; you don’t need to bother about strobing when you wear this. Then apply a wash of bronze-gold eyeshadow on your lids. Use a darker brown in the crease to contour. Line the top lash line in black and the lower waterline with brown pencil. A coat or two of mascara and filled-in brows hold the eyes together.

MAC Lady Danger_Hauterfly

MAC Orange Lady Danger Matte Lipstick (Rs 2,162)

Deepika has the perfect oval face and she can get away with blush placed directly on the apples of her cheeks. Besides, she also has the illusion of added height on her visage with her hair. But we’ll come to that later. If you don’t have Deepika’s bone structure, apply blush on the side of the cheekbones moving towards your temples instead. I love her tangerine-red pout and think it could probably be MAC So Chaud or Lady Danger. The darker your lipstick, the higher the chances of screwing it up, so DO NOT forgo lipliner.

As for the hair, Deepika has a trademark teased-at-the-crown hairstyle that everybody loves. It’s quite flattering since it adds height. For a hairstyle like Deepika’s, create a deep centre part and tease the hair around the crown. Pull the hair back loosely because you don’t want to look severe. Wrap it into a simple knot and pin it in place with the help of U-pins.
