Banish Blackheads With These 7 Natural Remedies

By  |

Having oily skin can be the worst thing in the world! People with this skin type (including me, *sigh*) can very well be expected to wake up every other morning with a shriek. Pimples, breakouts, blackheads… you name it, we’ve got it! As cringe-worthy as that may sound, it’s an honest problem faced by thousands of women the world over. But we’re lucky, for in today’s day and age, there’s a solution to just about everything. What’s even better is that they’re all natural!

According to me, blackheads are the absolute worst. Granted, they’re not as large and ugly as pimples, but they often occur right around the nose and do not make for a pretty picture. These blackheads crop up as a result of open pores that get filled with dead skin cells and excess oil, and of course, we’d all like to get rid of them once and for all.

To do that, you can use any of these 7 natural ingredients, one of which we’ve already told you about right here! Scroll on to find out about the rest of them. They’ll all be hiding right inside your kitchen.

1. Lemon Juice

It’s astounding the number of things you can achieve with lemon juice, really! Lemons contain citric acids, which help remove dead skin. This is the perfect solution to unclogging your pores and getting rid of blackheads. All you have to do is squeeze a teaspoon of lemon juice into a tiny bowl, dab a cotton ball with it, and apply it onto your blackheads. Leave it on for 8 to 10 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

2. Green Tea

Yes, you read that right! Green tea has tons of antioxidants and vitamins that help flush out excess oil from the skin and reduce any kind of inflammation. Steep two tea bags in hot water for about an hour. Dip a cotton ball into the tea and dab it on your blackheads. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off.

3. Turmeric

I personally believe that turmeric is a beautiful, magical spice. It’s rich in antioxidants and even contains anti-inflammatory properties, which can help kick those blackheads into oblivion. If you do not want the skin to stain, you can use wild turmeric or Kasturi turmeric instead. Mix a small bit of it with coconut oil or water, and dab it on to the area. Let it stay for a good 10 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.

4. Mint

Mint juice can be very effective when it comes to treating blackheads. It has cooling benefits and anti-inflammatory properties. Add a pinch of turmeric to two tablespoons of mint juice, and apply it on your blackheads. Allow it to dry before you wash it off.

5. Honey

Before you hit the bed every night, squeeze a few drops of lemon juice into a tablespoon of honey, and rub it on to the affected area in a circular motion. Leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the morning. Since honey has anti-bacterial properties, it can be greatly beneficial in keeping away those pesky blackheads.

6. Water

Don’t do a double take! Water is exactly what I meant to say. Several people underestimate the advantages of good ol’ H20. Wash your face with cool water twice a day, daily. This helps flush out excess oils and keeps your pores clear. Be sure to follow this up with a good moisturiser. This will keep the skin from producing excess oils to combat the dryness.

7. Yogurt

This creamy white delicacy can do wonders for your skin! It exfoliates and deeply cleanses the skin, leaving it healthier from the inside out. To get rid of your blackheads, mix two whole tablespoons of yogurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder. Apply it on the affected area and leave it on overnight.
