#Cannes2016: The 3 Makeup Looks We Just Can’t Get Over!

#Cannes2016: The 3 Makeup Looks We Just Can’t Get Over!

The world’s most glamorous and prestigious film festival is currently underway, we expect nothing but the best from all those international celebrities. In fact, if I may say so myself, the voyeurs in us just can’t get enough of the beauty blitzkrieg! This is the 15th year that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is at the Cannes Film Festival, and she hasn’t looked better. But I’d be lying if I said her makeup was the only one I fancied. Honestly, we’ve seen her do waaay better. Remember THIS?

Her bestie Eva Longoria fared better, and wore not one but two intense eye makeup looks and I’m torn between picking a favourite; they are THAT gorgeous! Seriously guys, I have the toughest job in the world. So after much dilly-dallying, I’ve decided why pick and choose when all three looks deserve a mention, right?

Here’s the lowdown on their makeup looks:

Aishwarya Rai’s eye makeup uses heavy doses of the colour of the season — blue. Summer and blue go hand-in-hand and this season the hue is bigger than ever. Like what you see? Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to copy her look:

Prep: Start with L’Oréal Paris Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Icy Gel. Follow it up with L’Oréal Revitalift Laser X3 Eye Cream, since this look is majorly about the eyes and they should look well-rested. Blue tends to highlight tired eyes, so make sure the skin around your eyes is hydrated and moisturised.

Base: Always start with a primer if you want your makeup to last for a couple of hours without creasing or fading. L’Oréal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer works well. You can then use L’Oréal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation on your face and neck and L’Oréal Paris True Match Concealer to cover blemishes and dark circles.

Eyes: It’s best to gradually build the colour. Start off by using a shimmery champagne shadow all over the eye lid right up to the brow bone. Aishwarya used L’Oréal Color Riche L’Ombre Pure in 405 The Big Blue to line her eyes. The same eye shadow was then blended out in an exaggerated cat eye. I think L’oréal Paris Super Liner Gel Intenza 36H in Royal Blue has been used to line the lower lid. It makes sense not to use powder shadow on the lower lid as it can smudge and make you look haggard after a few hours of wear. Use L’Oréal Paris Kajal Magique on both the water lines and add two coats of L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara.

Lips: With such intense eyes, it only makes sense to tone down the rest of your make-up. Aishwarya is wearing L’Oréal Infallible Mega Gloss in Amen.

And here’s the look I’ve been crushing on:

Just. So. Gorgeous. Another “it” colour of the season, rose gold has been enjoying quite a following for a while now. What I really love about this look is the use of rich colours coupled with the subtle cat eye. It is so easy on the eye, and absolutely anyone can carry it off.

What Eva seems to have done is blend a matte dark brown eyeshadow along the crease line. L’Oréal Paris Color Riche La Palette has a whole lot of neutral browns. Apply an eyeshadow in rose gold all over the lid extending it above the crease line in a subtle cat eye. Don’t blend it the edges. Oriflame The ONE Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow in Rose Gold should work beautifully for this. Apply L’Oréal Paris Kajal Magique on the waterline and coats the lashes with L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara. Finish off with a swipe of L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick in Sepia Silk.

And finally, I’ve saved the best for the end.

Those gold foils are just too rad! All you need is some edible gold foil — yes, edible! — because those things are super thin and won’t cause trouble on the delicate eye area. I found some great gold leaf sheets for you guys. Carefully break the sheet into tiny bits. Grab your eyelash glue — Ardell Lashgrip Strip Adhesive in Clear works well — and stick the pieces on your eyelids. You don’t have to get uniform pieces nor do you have to stick them at a precise distance from each other.
