These 5 Superfoods Are Actually SUPER (Eat Them Now!)

By  |

What if I told you that incorporating certain foods in your diet can battle a series of issues: from weight loss to diabetes, and hormone deficiency to dull skin? That’s right! Superfoods are known for their all encompassing properties and some superfoods are an absolute must.

Eat weekly (2 to 3 times a week, at least) to live your best life, because beauty and healing start from within.

The 5 superfoods I’m counting down are readily available in India and are common local vegetables. So, they’ll be fresh and packed with nutrients, and easy to fit into your diet.

1. Broccoli

Prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and more with broccoli. It’s also a great source of Vitamins A, K, and C; plus it has naturally occurring folic acid, something most people take as supplements! The nutrients broccoli has are essential to many daily body functions.

2. Pumpkin

Pumpkin, like spinach, is also filled with beta carotene that gets converted into Vitamin A & K for your skin and body. It is low in calories and prevents problems like coronary heart disease, as well as bladder stones.

3. Spinach

Hmm, we guess Popeye was onto something! And this doesn’t just hold true for kids. Spinach should be an essential part of your dietary plan at any age. These leafy greens can enhance vision, boost your body with Vitamin A, and provide your body with much-needed calcium! Remember, it’s all a cycle, when one part of your health suffers, the rest suffers, including skin, hair, nails, etc…

4. Blueberries

Berries are high in potassium and Vitamin C. They deliver a host of antioxidants to your skin and body. Plus, their anti-inflammatory properties can fight cancer and heart disease. I love snacking on them at work or adding them to my morning porridge. While I like eating them fresh, most believe that frozen berries are just as good. Make sure you’re not eating processed berries with the addition of sugar or other ingredients. Foods are best in their purest form.

5. Walnuts

All nuts and seeds are essential to good health and play a vital role in improving your bodily functions. And yet, walnut is termed as a superfood because it is a rich source of plant-derived omega-3 fatty acids, which improve cardiovascular health. Along with this, they’re a rich source of protein and various minerals: vitamins, folate, copper, and more.
