3 Tips To Prevent Mehendi From Fading Before Wedding Day Like Radhika Merchant
Radhika Merchant's wedding mehendi did not even last a whole day after being applied, here are 3 tips on how you can avoid it!

Amid the lavish wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, an unexpected hiccup caught the attention of many: Radhika’s mehendi, which had been beautifully applied for the pre-wedding functions, noticeably faded by the day of the wedding. Mehendi, an integral part of Indian wedding traditions, symbolizes love and prosperity, and brides often go to great lengths to ensure its deep, rich colour. If you’re wondering how to avoid such a situation on your special day, here are three essential tips to keep your mehendi vibrant and long-lasting.
1) Prepare Your Skin Properly
One of the crucial steps in ensuring that your mehendi colour comes out dark and stays longer is proper skin preparation. Start by exfoliating your hands and feet a day before the mehendi application. This helps remove dead skin cells, allowing the mehendi to adhere better to fresh skin. Avoid using any oils or lotions on the day of the application, as they can create a barrier between the mehendi and your skin, preventing the dye from penetrating deeply.
2) Keep It On for Long Enough
The duration for which you leave the mehendi paste on your skin significantly affects the colour intensity. Ideally, you should keep the mehendi on for at least 6-8 hours. Some brides even prefer to leave it overnight. The longer you leave it on, the darker the stain will be. Once the paste is applied, avoid washing it off with water. Instead, gently scrape it off using a blunt object or your fingers. Washing off the mehendi with water immediately after application can result in a lighter stain.
3) Use Natural Enhancers
Natural enhancers can significantly boost the colour of your mehendi. After scraping off the dried mehendi paste, apply a mixture of lemon juice and sugar. This mixture helps to fix the mehendi and deepen the colour. Additionally, you can use heat to enhance the stain. Lightly warm some cloves in a pan and place your hands over the steam. The heat helps to darken the mehendi colour and make it more vibrant. In the first 24 hours after removing the mehendi paste, avoid excessive contact with water. Water can lighten the stain and reduce its longevity. If you must wash your hands, do so minimally and avoid using soap as much as possible.
