15 Plum Lipsticks That Look AMAZING On Indian Skin!

My best memory of winter as a child is being tucked snugly under my quilt with one of my pet cats curled up by my feet. That, and being able to wear to wear make-up without the fear of it melting off my face. Winter is the season that calls for a change in your make-up and skincare routine. It’s time to swap your knockout corals and pretty pinks with classic fall shades like Bordeaux and plum lipsticks. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect plum lipstick ever since I saw Priyanka Chopra rock it with a shimmery smokey eye recently, and so here I am with an array of plums — from barely there tints to all out vampy berries in every kind of finish you can think of.

 

1. Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick — Insolent Plum (Rs 2,190)

Insolent Plum is a translucent cool-toned berry. It has a luminous sheen with blue undertones. It is hydrating, lasts for 6 hours and has just the right amount of opacity for someone just venturing in the arena of berry or plum-hued lipsticks.

 

2. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick — Berry Brilliant (Rs 350)

Berry Brilliant was launched as a winter lipstick. It can be worn as a fuchsia pink stain or can be layered as a saucy berry pink lipstick. You can also apply it and then dab your lips on a tissue and top it off with some high-intensity clear gloss to get really luscious, plump lips. It is moisturising and stays on for 4-5 hours.

 

3. Lancôme Rouge In Love Lipstick — Berry In Love (Rs 1,939 approx)

Although this looks matte in the tube, it comes out as a soft, creamy colour on application. It has amazing pigmentation, is very hydrating and looks glossy without feeling sticky.

 

4. Lakmé Absolute Crème Lipstick — Crimson Affair (Rs 675)

The colour pay off of Crimson Affair is ah-mazing. The opacity is so good that even the most pigmented lips can be covered in one swipe. It is a maroonish-berry colour that stays on for 4-5 hours, after which it fades off evenly leaving behind a lovely tint. The best part is that even though it sets to a matte finish it is quite moisturising and doesn’t settle into fine lines.

 

5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick — Cherries In The Snow (Rs 1,622)

This intensely pigmented lipstick is buttery smooth. Now we all are familiar with such textures. They are hydrating and feel extremely good on the lips but the bleeding and feathering you have to deal with is awful. That’s exactly where Revlon’s Cherries In The Snow wins. This classic red-meets-fuchsia is an extremely light, vintage-looking shade that is light on the lips and has good staying power.

 

6. L’Oréal Paris Moist Matt Lipstick — Arabian Nights (Rs 925)

Arabian Nights is a deep berry shade with red undertones. It is quite a dark shade and the staying power is really great. You can get up to 5 hours of wear time after which there’s minimal fading.

 

7. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick — Plum Paradise (Rs 319)

This reddish-berry hued lipstick has an opaque colour pay off which makes it last about 3-4 hours without budging. It has a soft, frosty shine which is perfect for Fall. It is not a satin or cream finish lipstick, but it’s not drying either.

 

8. Maybelline 14 Hour Lipstick — Please Stay Plum (Rs 460)

Please Stay Plum is a deep plum lipstick with red undertones that makes it look like a wine-coloured lipstick. The bronze micro-shimmer is barely noticeable. Although it is not transfer proof, the lipstick lasts 8-9 hours with minimal fading.

 

9. MAC — Plumful Lipstick (Rs 1,450)

This is a sheer rose plum lipstick. You could call it a pinky-plum that allows your natural lip colour to show through. It soft, lustrous, and wears well for 3-4 hours.

 

10. L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lipstick — Persistent Plum (Rs 999)

This reddish-plum lipstick has a very soft, creamy texture that makes application a dream. While it looks glossy for the first hour, it settles into a semi-matte finish. It settles in fine lines but it does not bleed. It leaves a lovely red tint after fading.

This pigmented fuchsia plum lipstick has obvious blue undertones. It is creamy and shows beautifully on pigmented lips. Also, it has SPF 16 which make it even better.

The silver microshimmer in this violet-red lipstick makes it look frosty. The highly pigmented lipstick stays up to 5 hours despite its creamy texture. It is light, does not smudge or settle in fine lines, and is very moisturising.

This plum brown lipstick has a creamy-matte finish and is best suited for busy days when you can’t be bothered about babying your lipstick.

 

14. L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Lipstick — Plum Passion (Rs 600 approx)

This gorgeous pinkish-purple lipstick offers full coverage with silver micro shimmer. Don’t bother about the shimmer as it wears off after an hour or so. The lipstick however lasts about 4-5 hours, after which it fades evenly.

 

15. Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick — Plum (Rs 441)

This is a true plum colour. Although it looks dark and vampy in the tube, it’s a lovely plum hue on the lips. It makes your lips look fuller and plumper. It is moisturising and has a glossy finish that lasts for quite a while.
